As part of the Erasmus + project, the State Higher School of Agronomy and Food Industry (ENSAIA) of the Lorraine University (Nancy, France) held international seminar from March 11 to 16.

Lecturers from Germany, Slovakia, and Kazakhstan were invited to this event.

Vice Dean for research and International cooperation of the Faculty of Biology and Biotechnology and Lecturer of the Department of Biotechnology Almagul Baubekova took part in an international seminar. During this week, she delivered lectures to the 2nd year master students on the topic: "The interaction between environmental pollution and livestock" in the context of research in Central Asia.

For 1 year master students A. Baubekova presented an introductory lecture about the al-Farabi Kazakh National University. The lecture aroused interest in our university and the city of Almaty.

Teachers of Nazarbayev Intellectual Schools got acquainted with the educational process at the Department of Biotechnology


The teaching staff of Nazarbayev Intellectual Schools visited Al-Farabi Kazakh National University, got acquainted with the educational program, with the conditions for organizing educational activities at the university. Abilov Rustam Zhumabekovich made a welcoming speech. In his speech, he noted that students of intellectual schools choose a national university, as evidenced by today's meeting. Our goal is to convey to students of schools positive information about the university. Our university has a historical, dynastic value. A memorandum has been concluded with the university. Professional orientation work is of great importance for us. At the end of the meeting, the teachers who arrived from Nazarbayev Intellectual Schools of Astana and Shymkent, visited its laboratories to familiarize themselves with the current state and educational process of the department. They were acquainted with professors of the department with a biotechnology specialty.

As a result of cooperation in the framework of the Erasmus plus project between the ISA Lille School of Engineering and the Faculty of Biology and Biotechnology, Deputy Dean for Scientific Innovation Work and International Cooperation A. Baubekova was invited to participate in an international seminar in Lille (France).

The international seminar was held from 4 to 8 March 2019 at the Catholic University of Lille (ISA Lille) to which representatives of 22 universities from 19 countries of the world (from Europe, Asia, Latin America) were invited.

The city of Lille is a student city of France, its main interest is that it is located in the heart of Europe between the four capitals of the world, which can be reached by train: London (1 hour 20 minutes), Brussels (35 minutes), Amsterdam (2 hours 30 min) and Paris (1 hour), which makes this city an attractive destination for students from around the world.

The topic of the seminar was devoted to three main topics: internationalization, sustainable development, innovations in education and teaching.

The seminars on internationalization uncovered topics on intercultural communication and exchanged the experience of all participants on the best internationalization practices.

Within the framework of sustainable development, the project “Live Tree Project” on creating a green campus was presented. The Catholic University of Lille assumed the responsibility to become a “Carbon Free University,” and it shows what efforts and specific actions the university is taking for this, namely installing solar panels on university buildings, building a 5-story smart building as a pilot building, etc.

The lecturers who presented new innovative teaching and learning methods that are already being introduced at the university were invited to the seminars.

Thanks to the Erasmus plus project, new links were established for expanding international activity, new methods of teaching at universities were mastered, an understanding of global priorities was expanded, in which direction many universities in Europe, Asia and Latin America are developing.


Happy International Women’s Day, dear ladies!


On the eve of the International Women's Day - March 7, at 15.00 in the Palace of students named after U.A.Zholdasbekov hosted the traditional, bright and colorful concert for the beautiful half of the university. This warm tradition was initiated by the rector of the university Galymkair Mutanov, who opened the solemn holiday.

A feature of the concert is that it is totally organized by the KazNU men’s own forces. Every year, the male part of the university congratulates the female half with their live performances by Vice-Rectors, directors of various Departments and Research Institutes, deans of faculties and department chairs, teachers, senior advisors and young university scientists.

On this wonderful day, it is impossible to recognize in men strict managers or scrupulous scientists, they are revealed from the creative side and continue to amaze women with their outstanding talents, performing more professional and interesting from year to year.

For many years you have been the Deputy Dean for Academic Affairs of the Faculty of Biology and Biotechnology, as well as in the Department of Magistracy of the Faculty and the University. Considering your high professional level, responsibility at work, your guidelines and endurance, you were offered to become the Dean of the Life Sciences-pedagogical faculty of the SKSU named after M. Auezov in 2005-2007.

You are the author of more than 200 scientific and educational works. In recent years, you have translated several textbooks from foreign languages ​​into Kazakh. In addition, you worked as part of the Commission on Magistracy of the Ministry of Education and Science of the Republic of Kazakhstan and participated in the development of master's programs and contributed to the opening of the magistracy in the universities of the country.

In Astana, the ceremony of awarding the winners of the republican contest "The best teacher of the university" for 2018 was held. The title of "The Best University Teacher" of 2018 was awarded to the Dean of the Faculty of Biology and Biotechnology, Doctor of Biological Sciences, Professor B.K. Zayadan, deputy dean for educational work, candidate of biological sciences, associate professor Z.A. Inelova, candidate of Biological Sciences, Associate Professor L.K. Baktybaeva. The career guidance Day of the Department of Biotechnology 2-year students


The faculty traditionally holds “Open Days of the Departments”. The purpose of the event is to give professional guidance to students, identify their potential and the mood for productive activities. Through such events, faculty members show interest and support for students, thanks to which the orientation of future young professionals in the labor market takes place.

Understanding the importance of engaging in career guidance graduates, who have a real understanding of the current professional situation in the country, graduates are involved as vivid examples of professional success for the younger generation.
