On September 22, 2022 PhD doctoral student of the Department of Biodiversity and Bioresources, Faculty of Biology and Biotechnology, Kazakh National University named after Al-Farabi defended a thesis for the degree of Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) Zhumagul Moldir Zhakypzhanovna on "Ecomorphological, and molecular genetic characterization of an endangered population of Rhodiola rosea L." in the specialty "6D060700 - Biology". 12 members of the dissertation council, 2 official reviewers, the domestic scientific adviser, Head of the Department of Biodiversity and Bioresources, Doctor of Biological Sciences, Professor Kurmanbayeva Meruyert Sakenovna and foreign scientific adviser, Professor of the Hungarian University of Agriculture and Life Sciences Maria Hohn (Budapest, Hungary) took part in the defense. The defense was successful and the Dissertation Council unanimously voted to award the degree of Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) 100%. The first International Scientific and Practical Conference «Integration of Sciences: Biophysics, Biomedicine, Neuroscience», took place on June 6, 2022, organized on the initiative of the Department of Biophysics, Biomedicine and Neuroscience of the Faculty of Biology and Biotechnology of the al-Farabi Kazakh National University and was held on the basis of al-Farabi KazNU.

On June 5, 2022, the lecturer of the Department of Molecular Biology and Genetics - Doctor of Biological Sciences, Professor, Academician of the National Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Bisenbaev Amangeldy Kuanbaevich was awarded the Order of "Qurmet" from the hands of the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

On May 4, 2022, Professor of the Department of Molecular Biology and Genetics, Doctor of Biological Sciences Kolumbaeva Saule Zhanabaevna was awarded the medal "Eren enbegi ushin".

Professor S.Zh. Kolumbaeva has published more than 200 scientific publications in local and foreign journals, including 17 publications in Scopus and Web of Science databases. She is the author of 3 patents, 8 security documents, 2 monographs and 10 textbooks. h-index - 4. Scientific supervisor of 6 scientific projects of grant funding of the Ministry of Education and Science of the Republic of Kazakhstan, participated in 6 scientific projects.

Kolumbaeva S.Zh. is the owner of the following honorary titles and awards: “The best teacher of al-Farabi Kazakh National University. 2008”, Badge of al-Farabi Kazakh National University (dedicated to the 75th anniversary) (2009), Winner of the grant "The best university teacher-2011", winner of state scholarship of the Ministry of Education and Science of the Republic of Kazakhstan as a scientist who contributed to the development of science and technology (2017). Kolumbaeva S.Zh. is the Associate Chief Editor of the journal “Bulletin of KazNU. The exchange of best practices and innovative ideas between foreign and Kazakh scientists during the discussion of modern achievements and problems of integrative sciences will allow us to outline new ways to unite the efforts of scientists from different fields for the progressive development of integrative sciences in the context of interdisciplinary interaction and international cooperation.

In recent years, issues of higher professional education have been sharply discussed. This is because there is an acute shortage of highly qualified specialists, because very often university graduates are not able to use the acquired knowledge in practice. To solve this problem, it is necessary, among other things, to integrate education and science. On April 15, 2022, the staff of the Department of Molecular Biology and Genetics visited the Institute of Genetics and Physiology to discuss the integration of science and education within the framework of the General Agreement between al-Farabi KazNU and research institutes subordinate to the SC MES RK. The Institute of Genetics and Physiology is a long-term partner and base of practice for students of the Department of Molecular Biology and Genetics.
