"А Catalog of the collection of vertebrates of the biological Museum of the al-Farabi Kazakh national University"

The proposed book by K. S. Musabekov "Catalog of the collection of vertebrates of the biological Museum of the al-Farabi Kazakh national University" is written in three languages (Kazakh, Russian, English), 395 p. - the result of many years of revision of the unique collection Fund of vertebrates

The proposed Catalog is the result of a long-term audit of the unique collection fund of vertebrate animals of the Biological Museum of Al-Farabi Kazakh National University, which includes 7888 specimens belonging to 70 orders, 217 families and 866 species of animals.

Already 80 more than there is a biological museum of the Kazakh national university of the name Аль-Фараби, also having rich zoological collection of the world animals, - the largest among higher educational establishments of republic. These collections meet the requirements of article 8 of the Law of the Republic of Kazakhstan dated July 9, 2004 "on protection, reproduction and conservation of the animal world of the Republic of Kazakhstan" and government Resolution No. 1413 of December 24, 2014 " on approval of the rules for creating and storing Zoological collections.

They behave to the scientific, cultural and educational, учебно-воспитательной and aesthetic value. The systematized collections are registered in accordance with established procedure: living organisms, wet and dry preparations of types of animals and their parts, moist and dry fixed organisms, including scare-crows, carcasses, hides, skeletons and their parts, eggs of birds. Among them most characteristic representatives of animal kingdom of Kazakhstan are kept, and also there are the most valuable exhibits of rare, vanishing and precinctive types of animals, including a туранского tiger 70 more than back disappearing in the places of the former habitation.

Collection funds and expositions of the Biological Museum have a great scientific and educational importance, and it play an important role in environmental protection and environmental education in order to preserve the Red Book species of the animal world and to promote the ideas of nature conservation. The role of the Museum collections in scientific research is obvious. Each exhibit of such collections carries valuable scientific information like a systematic, morphological, ecological, zoogeographical and cadastral information. Therefore, in recent years, the Museum staff has done a great job of studying and systematizing the collection fund, preparing reference books, systematic catalogs and electronic databases in order to enter the information accumulated over decades into scientific circulation and make it more accessible for use in scientific and educational purposes. One of the results of this work is the «Catalog Collection of Vertebrate Animals in Biological Museum of Al-Farabi Kazakh National University» prepared by us, which is the most complete reference book on the current state of the Museum's Collection Fund.

Author Mussabekov Kylyshbay, candidate of biological sciences, graduating student of our university, in 1980-2008 МОН РК worked in Institute of zoology from a laboratory assistant to the senior staff scientist, at one time he met and worked as collections of research institutes of cities of Moscow, Saint Petersburg, Tashkent, Ashkhabad, and also collections of МГУ of the name M.V. Lomonosov, Saga of the name V.I. Lenina (Tashkent). In a museum works from 2008.

Responsible Editor: PhD. N.N Berezovikov

The book is intended for students of biology, undergraduates, PhD and zoological specialists, employees of museums, local historians, specialists in the field of environmental protection.

The presentation will take place on February 27, 2020. Everyone is invited.

A series of lectures of professor from M.V. Lomonosov Moscow State University D.M. Matorin for doctoral students and young scientists

From 22.11.2019 to 13.12.2019, at the invitation of the Dean of the faculty of biology and biotechnology of al-Farabi Kazakh national University, doctor of biology, Professor B. K. Zayadan, a Russian biophysicist, Professor of Moscow state University was at the Department of biotechnology with a series of lectures for doctoral students and young scientists. M. V. Lomonosova, doctor of biological Sciences Dmitry Nikolaevich Matorin. His research interests are related to the study of mechanisms for regulating photosynthesis by environmental factors, and research of marine phytoplankton using fluorescent methods. During his stay at our University, Professor D. N. Motorin delivered a series of lectures on biomonitoring of the natural environment and biotesting using fluorescent methods.

On November 29, 2019 on the eve of the First President's Day to give aguest lecture on the topic: “Modern Kazakhstan. Elbasy Leadership Lessons ”, teachers of the Faculty of Biology and Biotechnology invited Mustafina Gulmira Bayatovna, the chairman of the public association “Zheltoksan zuhldyzdary ”.

Training, seminar for university staff by Professor Nils Birkeland

At the Department of Biotechnology between 17.11 to 29.11 series of lectures and seminars were conducted by a visiting professor from the University of Bergen (Norway) Nils Birkeland, who is a known specialist in the field of applied microbiology, namely, he works with thermophilic bacteria using them in Biotechnology. In addition, his work is aimed at identifying molecular adaptation to extreme temperatures using extremophilic microorganisms from various environments, an in-depth understanding of the enormous natural microbial diversity in extreme habitats, elucidating the mechanisms and regulation of the biological oxidation of methane, metagenomics to gain knowledge about the survival and evolution of Shigella-like bacteria.

Today Niels gave us a lecture on the use of thermophilic bacteria in production. It was pleasure for Instructors of the Department of Biotechnology to listen to Professor Nils Birkeland.

In early August 2019, I received by mail information about a 21-day internship at Tianjin Institute of Industrial Biotechnology, Chinese Academy of Sciences, China. The internship period is from October 14 to November 2. Carried out the collection of documents according to their requirements. After 2 weeks, I received a notification letter that I won this competition among 150 nominees (participants). Under the terms of the internship, the host institute paid all expenses.

This training course examined theories, practices, and applications of industrial synthetic biotechnology.

The course consisted of 2 sections:

1. Technical section: basic theory, methodology, technological progress and the use of synthetic biotechnology (chemicals, fuels and lubricants, food and feed additives).

2. Experimental: a series of experiments in synthetic biology to strengthen technical skills.

In addition, he participated in MES-2019: a metabolic engineering summit with 500 participants from 20 countries (MES 2019, October 20-22, Tianjin).

In addition, I attended lectures by world famous scientists. Keynote speakers: Sang Yup Li, professor at the Korea Leading Science and Technology Institute (KAIST), and a number of other international scholars, such as Professor Jibin Sun, Professor Янхэ Ма, Professor Yong Tao, Professor Shuangyan Tang and other TIB professors. Another research organization of China.

At the end of the practice, a memorandum of cooperation between the treasury and MEB on student exchange and visiting professors was signed.
