The educational program is aimed at training highly qualified, competitively educated cadres in the field of geography for educational institutions, including schools and colleges. To achieve this graduate, you need to know: the methodological foundations and categories of psychology, age physiology and school hygiene, pedagogy and achievements in the field of psychology and pedagogy, a specialized field of knowledge, theoretical aspects of the organization of pedagogical activity in a multicultural society (differences in cultures, religions, national characteristics ); Theoretical bases of the taught subject, its structure and content in the pre-profile education system, the place and role of each participant in the pedagogical process (teacher, pupil, parent), norms of pedagogical ethics.

Perform a number of tasks, including specialized theoretical and practical training of students in the training process, focused on the current need, including for understanding and improving their individual style of learning, thinking, for developing the need and ability for permanent education. To be able to apply information and telecommunication technologies in pedagogical activity at the level of a qualified user, as well as innovative methods and technologies in their subject area, to analyze and evaluate the results of introducing innovations in the process of education and upbringing; Implement own pedagogical technologies.

Possess strong knowledge and competence in teaching methods of geography and geographical science, conduct pedagogical and methodological analysis of the educational process and educational activities, as well as critical and creative thinking. To form students' understanding of the psychological and pedagogical foundations of teaching geography and special didactic skills among pedagogical graduates, it is necessary to give a broader idea of ​​modern methods of teaching geography. Education style



Learning & Teaching Approaches

The general learning style is task-based learning. There are some lecture courses, accompanied by practical works and seminars. Most learning is in small groups (up to 12 persons) and emphasizes calculation, estimation, discussion, and preparation of presentations and essay autonomously in small groups. Practical works aimed at improving individual skills solving theoretical and applied problems. In the final year about half time is dedicated to the final thesis, which is also presented and discussed with a discussion group of lecturers and peers.

Physical geography, geomorphology and geoecology track:

- Know the theoretical foundations of landscape, the basic terms and definitions of landscape; landscape place in the general system of the natural sciences;

- Define impact of natural components on the properties and functioning of geosystems;

- Using and knowing basic theoretical and methodological principles of modern land reclamation;

- according to the geological and structural features of a region to select the most effective methods of neotectonic studies (geological, geomorphological, geophysical, remote sensing, etc.);

- Dedicated latest tectonic structures, their spatial arrangement, the amplitude of the horizontal and vertical movements, both positive and negative patterns in map form with the appropriate symbols.

Economic, social and political geography track:

- Fundamentals of state management of transport complex of the country, and transport and communication services;

- Analyze the systemic approach as a methodological basis of socio-economic geography;

- Choose appropriate assessment methods and can evaluate the causes and consequences of economic and geographical processes and phenomena;

- The development of the political geography of the world, the geopolitical consequences of the collapse of the USSR in Kazakhstan, especially the modern national borders of Kazakhstan.

As a result, in the educational program on the specialty "5В011600 - Geography" new disciplines are included, which strengthen the pedagogical direction of the specialty. For the recruitment of 2015, "Modern models of the education in school" and "New directions of the geographic education" educational modules were developed to provide students by the necessary didactic skills for geography teaching in schools. The course "Inclusive education" is focused on the formation of the teacher's professional competence in the work with troubled and mal-adapted children with special needs under general education school conditions. As a result of the studying the course, the student should know the essence of the inclusive education and its specificity in comparison with the integrated education and its ethical and methodological aspects, the international experience of pedagogy in the implementation of inclusive and integrated teaching, the possibilities of interaction between the school and the family in organizing the inclusive education.

As a result of the studying the "Organization and Planning of Extracurricular Activities on Geography" course, the students can familiarise with interesting facts and concepts reflecting various aspects of the life of nature and society. Development of cognitive interest to geography based on extracurricular activities is provided by attraction of means of entertaining and acquaintance with the most important achievements of science, excursions into nature and on production.

The course "Development of Creative Thinking in Geography", which is based on creativity and extraordinary decision-making, develops the thinking activity of students, which most adequately and effectively reacts to the situation that has arisen within geographical disciplines. The course introduces the methods of perception of geographical material, its comprehension, memorization, analysis and synthesis and mastering of it, which makes it possible to freely use the received knowledge in various situations, differently operating them, making non-standard decisions, etc. As a result of the active using of the interactive methods of teaching geographical disciplines, the student acquires the skills of conducting interactive classes and geographic excursions, using case studies (analysis of concrete and practical situations), and conducting videoconferencing, brainstorms, debates, business and role games, group discussions and trainings for successful geography teaching in secondary school.
