·Physics (BSc)

A graduate of the Physics (BSc) programme must possess the following knowledge, skills and competences:

·have general knowledgeabout the main objects, subjects and fields of research in physics; main experimental, theoretical and numerical methods of the physical phenomena and processes studying; the best known theories and models of physical phenomena and processes in various field of physics and their practical applications; state policy in the sphere of education and key educational technologies used in Kazakhstan; the most effective modern methods of teaching and learning physics technology replying to the actual problems of the secondary education national system development; 

·know the main concepts, laws and models of general and theoretical physics, mechanics, molecular physics, electricity and magnetism, atomic and nuclear physics, physics of condensed states; mathematical apparatus and mathematical methods used in physics, main definitions, concepts and theorems of mathematical analysis, analytical geometry and higher algebra, methods of the differential and integral equations solving, basics of vector and tensor analysis; basics of radiophysics and electronics, methods of mathematical physics; computer methods of information search, collection, storage, processing and use; theory and methods of physics teaching; one of foreign languages and techniques of scientific-technical translation (for the students, which are studying a foreign language in depth); innovative teaching technologies that meet the pressing development objectives of the national education system.

·have skills to carry out the experimental research of physical phenomena, processes and physical properties of substances, and determine the state variables; develop the mathematical models, applying the theoretical and numerical methods of physical phenomena and processes studying; process the findings of scientific studies and their analysis using the computer programs; conduct the physics lessons in the secondary schools with usage of demonstration experiments and extracurricular educational activities; make the scientific presentations in a foreign language; cooperate with the colleagues and work as a team leader in order to solve the complex problems in the physics teaching.

·be competent in the planning, organization, modernization and management of scientific studies in physics; in the methods and technology of physics teaching; in the computer automation of scientific research and educational process; in the introduction of the quality management system in the scientific-research, educational and design-construction institutions.

·have general knowledge in the field of humanitarian and social-economic sciences as well as about the legal and ethical norms, that regulate the relations between the individuals, individuals and the society, individuals and the environment as related to the professional activities; about Kazakhstan’s history, Constitution and basic legislation, main directions of economic reform in Kazakhstan as well as the domestic, regional and global environmental problems;

·be able to set the targets and formulate the tasks, analyze the socially significant processes and problems; use the methods of humanitarian and social-economic sciences in various spheres of professional activities; to formulate logically the ideas and findings based on the developed culture of thinking; to develop their own methods of physics teaching; to draw on the progressive ideas of the past and modern forms and methods of active physics learning;

·know thebasics of effective personnel management, quality control and labour organization; modern information and educational technologies to independently acquire new knowledge;

 The graduate can demonstrate:

  • Advanced knowledge of physics laws and principles, required for the understanding of various processes and phenomena in nature;
  •  Ability to select the most effective modern methods of physics teaching and learning technology, replying to the actual problems of secondary education national system development;
  •  Knowledge of modern mathematical and numerical methods; ability to use the contemporary software, computer mathematics packages and programming languages for non-standard problems solving in the field of Physics; 
  • Knowledge of the methods and tools of modern physics in order to conduct the  demonstration experiments, process and analyze their results;  
  •  Ability to provide the clear and precise descriptions of physical problems and possible ways of their solutions; capacity to present the research results and conclusions in oral, written and multimedia forms in a clear way to the target audience;
