Chairman of the Management Board-Rector of NJSC “Al-Farabi KazNU” Zhanseit Tuimebayev met with Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the French Republic to Kazakhstan Didier Caness, during the talks issues of deepening scientific, educational and cultural cooperation were discussed.

Welcoming the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the French Republic to Kazakhstan Didier Canesse, Rector Zhanseit Tuimebayev noted that France, as a full participant in the integration processes in Europe, plays a significant role in promoting Kazakhstan to the world community and is an important partner. The fruitful cooperation of KazNU with 18 universities in France proves the success and the need for close relationships.

KazNU students and teachers travel to the best universities in France as part of exchange programs for training and internships, and major joint international projects are being implemented. The center "Geo-Energetics", created jointly with the University of Lorraine with the direct support of the French Embassy in Kazakhstan, is successfully functioning.

In turn, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Didier Canesse, congratulating the new rector of the University on his appointment, spoke about the work of the Geo-Energetics Center, created more than 10 years ago, on the basis of which research work in the field of climate change was conducted, large-scale scientific projects were implemented. "The next step will be the transformation of the existing center into the Kazakh-French Institute of Science, Technology and Energy, which will open new horizons for fruitful joint work," the Ambassador stressed. – We are currently at the final stage of this transformation. It remains to agree on some details in order to sign the agreement. We plan that in September the new Institute will open its doors to scientists, teachers and students."

"The Faculty of History, Archeology and Ethnology of KazNU has a great potential for this. A huge reservoir for research in Kazakhstan is represented by ancient cities and settlements that were located on the territory of the Kazakh steppe in the IV-V centuries BC. These are more than a dozen cities, such as: Suaran, Farab (Otyrar), Ispijab and others. I believe that cooperation with well-known French specialists in this field will be fruitful, interesting and useful, " the rector said.

Didier Canesse supported the proposal of the Rector of KazNU and expressed readiness to promote the development of new areas of partnership. During the talks, the parties also outlined the need to intensify cooperation in the development of humanities and double-degree education, tourism, as well as the study of the French language.
