April 21 (04/21/2019) in Almaty was the most massive running start in Central Asia - “Almaty Marathon”. It was attended by 17 thousand athletes from 53 countries.

The "Almaty Marathon" was attended by teachers and students of the Department of Mechanics of Al-Farabi Kazakh National University. Marathon (42 km) was run by associate professor of mechanics department Alibayeva Karlygash, half-marathon (21 km) was run by specialist from the department Karkinbekov Nurtleu, 4th year students Temirkhanov Amirkhan and, Moldagaliyev Alibek , 10 km distance ran musterstudents  Aray Kyrgyzbaeva, Yerbolat Assylbek, Sagindikova Ayana, Sarsenova Balzhan and doctoral students Inkarbekov Medet, and at the children's distance (3 km), the children of associate professor Turalina D.E fought for the title of the fastest. 

 Almaty Marathon is a charity project that promotes a healthy lifestyle.

 According to the information provided by the organizers of the competition, part of the funds from the entry fees of participants will be directed to the construction of sports grounds in special children's institutions.
