Ambassador's Hour

Kazakh-Indian relations stretch back into the depths of history. Taking the right course for the development of bilateral relations, the two states established diplomatic relations in February 1992. Having laid a solid contractual base for the further development of bilateral cooperation and defining the main areas of partnership, the many-sided ties between our states are rapidly growing and developing. Another step in strengthening and developing bilateral relations was the visit of the Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of the Republic of India to the Republic of Kazakhstan Mr. Prabhat Kumar, who held the "Ambassador’s Hour" at the Department of Indology at the Faculty of Oriental Studies of the al-Farabi Kazakh National University.

The lecture was dedicated to the outstanding Indian political and public figure, one of the leaders and ideologists of the Indian Independence Movement from Great Britain Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi, and the way India as a contrasting and multi-confessional country could unite and reach today's level. It was Gandhi and his philosophy of non-violence (satyagraha) that influenced the movements of supporters of peaceful change, called upon all the people to peacefully fight the colonialists, and this call united India and gave strength to a huge leap. At present, India is one of the leading countries in the world, which is certainly the result of the philosophy of non-violence of Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi.

During the program, time was given to answer the questions of teachers and students, as well as all the guests present. First of all, they expressed great gratitude for the meeting and asked the Ambassador how the policy of non-violence could have such power, in his opinion. Mr. Prabhat Kumar replied that not only the policy of non-violence itself, but mainly the human spirit, was of great value for the success of the Indian people. Also, responding to another of the guests' questions of interest, the Ambassador of India revealed the role of one of the disciples and adherents of Gandhi, who continued his work - Javarharlal Nehru, the first president of India after gaining independence in 1947.

The students of the Indology department asked questions in Hindi, and the Ambassador was extremely flattered, appreciating the high level of preparation of the students of the Department of Indology of the Faculty of Oriental Studies.
