On February 16, 2023, at 11:00 a.m., the Department of Turkic Studies and Language Theory of the Faculty of Philology together with the Research Institute of Turkic Studies of Istanbul University will hold an international scientific seminar entitled "Cooperation of Turkic-speaking peoples within the framework of the modern Great Turan".After the introductory speech of the head of the department of Turkic studies and theory of language, professor Avakova Raushangul Amirdinkyna, the main speaker of the international seminar was the professor of the Institute of Turkic Studies, Istanbul University, Republic of Turkey, Dr. Mr. Omir Kul is the author of the book "Ospan Batyr and the National Struggle in Eastern Turkestan (1941-1951)", one of our scientists who conducts scientific research on the main directions and history of the idea of Turan, Turkic unity.The keynote speaker was able to cover the topic in depth by telling many important details by answering several questions of the mentors, teaching staff and guests in the question-and-answer section.Among the guests who spoke at the end of the meeting was M.O. Auezov Institute of Literature and Art, Doctor of Science, Professor Mr. Khamraev Alimzhan, Doctor of Science from the Kazakh National Pedagogical University named after Abay, Mr. Ruslan Arziyev, Associate Professor of Science, expressed their gratitude to the department management and the specially visiting chief speaker, and expressed their gratitude to the joint scientific projects of the Turkic peoples. expressed that he is always ready to do so, and that he is committed to expanding the field of Turkic studies. He emphasized that such a gathering is very important for the entire Turkish society and public.

On February 6, at the Al-Farabi Kazakh National University, Faculty of Philology, was held an open curatorial hour under the guidance of PhD Burkitbayeva Shynaray Dubirovna with the title “Past and present of Kazakhstan” for 1st year students from Turkmenistan. The teachers of department Turkology and the theory of language - Burkitbayeva Shynaray and deputy director on educational, methodical and educational work Eshmetova Balzhan also took part in the curatorial hour. The purpose of the curatorial hour was to inform foreign students about the culture of our country. The participants were informed about origin of the ethnonym "Kazakh", about the importance of Kazakh people on the historical stage, also about ancient and modern culture of our nation. Through the curatorial hour were asked questions and were a discussions about the process of formation and division of spiritual culture of the Turkic people as a whole. As the all students are Turks, we discussed Nauryz, our common traditions and dishes from milk inherited from our ancestors. We shared information about well known arts and educational institutions of Kazakhstan, Almaty's museums, theatres and libraries, which will provide academic and spiritual knowledge for our international students. The curatorial lesson was led by 1st year masters from the Turkic Philology Department Almakhan Aksunkar, Kutlymuratova Aziza and Ibragim Aina as practical lessons. In conclusion, I can say that we have given a lot of information about our country and language to students who came from Turkmenistan in search of education, information about our culture, the current path of development and contribution that we can make to the Turkic people as philologists. As we exchanged views, indeed, we once again realised how close and open to innovation our peoples are.

Department of Turkology and Theory of Language

On January 19, 2023, an informative lecture "Turk bitig" was held at the Department of "Turkology and Theory of Language" of the Al-Farabi Kazakh National University by runologist Yerlan Espenbetov. The lecture was attended by undergraduates, doctoral students and teaching staff. The lecture discussed the history and alphabet of the ancient Turkic runic writing, originality and general value for the Turkic peoples, and most importantly, relevance today. Special attention during the lecture was paid to the ancient Turkic runic alphabet and its unique consonant system. Nowadays there is a special scientific interest to the study of runic writing, which is common to the Turkic countries. This is evidenced by the comprehensive research work in the Turkic countries, along with the national Turkology. In this direction, interesting statements and assumptions of Yerlan Espenbetov were made. The ways and techniques of implementing Turkic runic inscriptions into everyday life were discussed (for example, as the headings of advertising texts) and answers to the questions of the lecture participants are given. Such lectures are of great importance for young scientists and teachers.

 Professor of Eskisehir Osmangazi University (Republic of Turkey) Dr. Farrukh Agha visited Farabi University from November 25 to December 25 to give a lecture. The professor's lectures were devoted to the issues of reading, translation of texts in the ancient Uighur language, their comparison with modern Turkic languages. In particular, the professor's lecture "ways and principles of publishing articles in foreign journals with a high scientific index" brought great benefit to undergraduates, doctoral students and teachers of our department. There, the professor systematically explained specific data on the publication of articles in journals included in the scopus database. Those who listened to the professor's lectures from beginning to end were awarded certificates. On the part of the university, our professor was awarded a letter of thanks.
