A round table dedicated to the International day against nuclear tests will be held

Ladies and Gentlemen! We are kindly inviting you to participate in the international round table dedicated to the International Day against Nuclear Testing which is to be held on August 28th, 2019. The round table was organized in cooperation with the Representative Office of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Almaty, the United Nations Information Office in Kazakhstan and Al-Farabi Kazakh National University.

As you know, on August 29, 1989, in accordance with the Decree of the First President of Kazakhstan, Nazarbaev N.A., the largest Semipalatinsk Nuclear Testing precinct was closed. This date, according to the initiative of Kazakhstan, was approved by the 64th Session of the UN General Assembly as the International Day against Nuclear Testing. The UN General Assembly encouraged to intensify efforts by the UN, states of the world, intergovernmental and non-governmental organizations to stop nuclear testing all over the planet.

The purpose of the round table is to develop a dialogue on international security issues through the active involvement of the younger generation of the country. A nuclear-weapon-free world is a reliable path to sustainable peace, universal security and stability on Earth.

Representatives of diplomatic missions and international organizations accredited in Almaty, the scientific and academic community, youth organizations, civil society and the media are invited to participate in the round table.
