In the summer of 2022, schoolchildren from America arrived at al-Farabi Kazakh National University under the youth Program of the US Department of State "Language Initiative for Youth" (National Security Language Initiative for Youth - NSLI-Y). The purpose of the visit of young Americans is to improve knowledge and develop Russian language skills. In addition, the NSLI-Y program involves acquaintance with the host country and immersion in the culture, as well as in the daily life of the country of study.
Teachers of the Department of Language and General Education Training of Foreigners of the Faculty of Pre-university Education warmly welcomed the youth landing from the USA. The head of the program from the Kazakh National University is Ulzhan Yesenovna Musabekova, Doctor of Philology. The organizers from the Kazakh side offered the attention of the high school students who arrived in Almaty a diverse program of teaching Russian as a foreign language, including the development of skills and abilities in all types of speech activity, depending on the level of language proficiency, as well as an interesting plan for visiting cultural, historical, natural attractions of the southern capital of Kazakhstan and its environs.
