International round table «Youth and Islam: Problems of religiosity, socialization and education"

On October 23, 2014 the Arabic Studies Centre held an international roundtable named "Youth and Islam: the problem of religion, socialization and education" within the project "Islam in modern Kazakhstan: the nature and outcome of the religious revival" at the Department of Arabic and Iranian Studies.

The round table addressed to the following topical issues:
- Youth and the Islamic movements;
- Islam in the Kazakhstan context: tradition or modernization?
- The role of the media in shaping the religious consciousness;
- The concept of religious education in secular society;
- The concept of religiosity and its parameters.

Roundtable participants were: well-known Orientalists, political scientists in the face of Rasul Zhumaly, religious scholars, philosophers, philologists, representative SMMC Alau Adilbaev, foreign expert Professor Ali Ali Shaaban, as well as young scientists and postgraduates.
