At the Faculty of Oriental Studies of the Al-Farabi Kazakh National University, the traditional open day event was held. The purpose of the event is to acquaint schoolchildren of Almaty with the departments of the Faculty of Oriental Studies, to give detailed information about admission, about the features of education at the faculty. High school students of secondary schools, gymnasiums, lyceums of Almaty, attended the event. First-year students in national costumes of Japan, Korea, India, Turkey, and China met schoolchildren. The leaders of the career guidance work told the students about the features of each department of the Faculty of Oriental Studies. High school students visited the faculty museum, reading room and audience. All interested students were handed booklets. Each student was able to get an answer to his question. In the official part of the event, Deputy Dean Kanafieva S. delivered an introductory speech. Then, native speakers from each department gave a speech on the topic “What is the advantage of studying oriental language”.
As part of the "Open Day" of the Far East Departmentheld an event "Master Class on Japanese Studies". At the beginning of the event, a first-year master student and a second-year student at the Japanese Studies Department told students about their learning experiences in Japan. Then, first-year students held a master class in Japanese, teaching schoolchildren basic greeting words in Japanese. At the end of the event freshmen taught schoolchildren to fold origami. The students were delighted with everything they saw.

In general, the annual "Open Door Day" was successful, as evidenced by the active participation of schoolchildren and the display of interest in the study of Oriental languages.
