April 16, 2019, the Faculty of Oriental Studies of the al-Farabi Kazakh National University held a meeting with a delegation of representatives of the Armed Forces of Pakistan headed by Commodore Aviation Mr. Zaeem Afzal. The delegation includes 20 officers, Mr. Basit Salim Shah commercial Counsellor of the Embassy of Pakistan to the Republic of Kazakhstan attended this meeting. The purpose of the visit is a wide interaction with politicians, military, scientific circles, intellectuals and analytical centers of Kazakhstan to discuss a wide range of issues. On behalf of the university, the Pakistani delegation was greeted by the First Vice-Rector M.M. Burkitbayev, Dean of the faculty of oriental studies Y.M. Paltore, teachers and students of the faculties of oriental studies and international relations. During the meeting, issues of higher education in Kazakhstan and Pakistan, cooperation in the field of academic mobility were discussed. Professor G. Nadirova made a presentation on the higher education system in Kazakhstan, the first year master student Morugova Yelena introduced with the higher education system in Kazakhstan and the Bologna declaration, PhD student Ospan Nazym told about the history of Kazakhstan-Pakistan relations. A pleasant surprise for the guests was the presence of the Urdu language division at the Faculty of Oriental Studies, whose students showed excellent performance of this language! Such meetings are a strong motivating factor for students, stimulating their desire to learn Urdu and the whole complex of regional studies disciplines.
