In Department of Kazakh literatures History and Theory interdisciplinary researches are conducted. Its are headed by Alua Temirbolat, Higher Doctorate of Philological Science, professor, the full member of the European Academy of Natural History, the laureate of the premium of Fund of the First President of Republic Kazakhstan. During 19 years She is engaged in researches on a joint of philology, aesthetics, psychology, physics, philosophy, cultural science. The results of her scientific searches have received reflection in the articles, monographies, manuals: «The problem of chronotop in modern prose» (2003), «Rhetoric» (2005, 2006), «Categories of chronotop and temporary rhythm in the literature» (2009), «Theory of literature » (2009), « Poetics of literature » (2010, 2011), etc.

Since 2011 under the initiative of professor A.B. Temirbolat together with the Tyumen State Oil Gas University, the University of Great Vytautas the international scientific works-book on interdisciplinary researches «Actual problems of the modern humanitarian science» publishes. In this works-book the articles of scientists of Kazakhstan, Lithuanian, Russian, Ukraine are printing. The works-book includes the scientific papers on literary studies, folklore, linguistics, philosophy, political science, history, pedagogy, psychology.

The main directions of interdisciplinary studies of Kazakh Literature and Theory of Literature's Department are:

1) psychological literary study;

2) sociology of literature;

3) literature and culture,

4) literature and folklore in the context of intercultural communication;

5) computer and information technologies of teaching literature and folklore.

The results of interdisciplinary studies are used in lectures and seminars of teachers of the Department.
