The main scientific results (in the light of the Strategic Plan of al-Farabi Kazakh National University) on the subject of scientific research work of faculty, scientific research institutes, and scientific centers. The research activity is one of the most prestigious, socially important and economically viable sides of human activity. It provides long-term development of science, significantly enriches the culture, brings a margin of safety in the intellectual potential of society, and determines social progress. In this context, the scientific research work of the chair of diplomatic translation is an integral part of the educational process as a whole, the most important factor in strengthening the intellectual capacity, the basis for the continuous updating of training and methodological support. The main direction of scientific research activity of the chair of diplomatic translation is "The optimization of the teaching foreign languages ​​in the conditions of the credit system." The development of teacher’s staff of the chair in the framework of the theme "Optimization of teaching foreign languages ​​in in the conditions of the credit system" is based on the textbooks "Reading texts on specialty" for the 3-4 course students as training material for the course "The practice of translating texts." For the current period the following teachers have defended their dissertation papers:

1. Senior teacher Sarbayeva R.E.: The theme "The gender politics in the international organizations (the UN, the OSCE, the Council of Europe)"

2. Senior teacher Smagulova K.K. has defended her thesis on the theme "Шыңжаңдағы этникалық топтардың діни наным-сенімдері" for the degree of the candidate of philosophical sciences on specialty 09.00.13 – theology, philosophical anthropology, philosophy of the culture on the dissertation council of the Kazakh National University named after al-Farabi.

Teachers of the chair research their works in the fields of philology, pedagogy, psychology, theory and methodology of vocational education, foreign language teaching methodology. The forms of research projects: dissertations, publications of articles and monographs, active participation in scientific conferences on a variety of topics and trends. As the result of this work the chair has created a rich scientific and methodological basis, several manuals and recommendations are published. In addition, the chair regularly hold different methodological seminars aimed at finding solutions of problems related to the specific work of the department. During the seminars teachers appear to methodological reports whose purpose is to inform colleagues about innovative methods of teaching foreign languages ​​in non-linguistic institution.

The research work of students, as the direction, includes a wide range of activities. Teachers of the department are actively involved in organizing and conducting student conferences, which resulted in the best papers are selected and awarded prizes. For example, the first Student's conference of bachelor's degree in foreign languages was organized and held on November 26, 2010. (Coordinator, Professor Baytukayeva A.Sh.)

The results of all scientific research are widely used in the creation of a modern educational, scientific and methodological literature.

The chair of diplomatic translation is responsible for conducting the Republican Olympiad "Al-Farabi". The coordinator of the program is the head of the chair of diplomatic translation, professor​​ Baytukayeva A. Sh. which is in charge of compiling a list of commission of the Faculty of International Relations and quality of tests.

Hurmet have participated in the international scientific-practical seminar on "Language, culture and national security" in the Center for Applied Linguistics and Intercultural Communication, Kazakh National University named after al-Farabi April 25-27, 2011.

1. Head of the Chair of diplomatic translation, candidate of sciences (pedagogy), professor, and corresponding member of International Academy of Sciences. She works in KazNU since 1993 and is the author of more than 90 scientific publications. She is represented in encyclopedia "International. Who is who of terminologists", published by the International Federation of Russian and Ukrainian Terminology Banks. In 2006 she was awarded the honorable title of the corresponding member of Russian International Academy of Sciences For the achievements in development of education, science and public activities she was awarded the breast order (nagrudnoi znak) in honor of the 75-th anniversary of KazNU

2. Karipbaeva G.A. - coordinator of the Republican contest "Olympiad of Al-Farabi"
