Updating of priority scientific directions of chair was carried out in full conformity with the Concept of development of a science in KazNU named by al-Farabi. Thus defining was not only aspiration to consider and develop fundamental directions of researches traditional for philology, but also to promote blossoming of our own schools of thought, to support search and perspective projects.

The chair cooperates with institute of linguistics NAS RK named by A.Baitursinov, scientific research institutes of Altynsarin who take up the problems of a technique of teaching of various subject matters and pedagogics questions. The close connection with other higher educational institutions of Almaty and Republic Kazakhstan, in particular, with KazUIRWL named by Ablai-khan, and also with chairs of KazNU named by al-Farabi is supported. One of forms of co-operation is the publication of scientific works of teachers of chair in specialized international editions. A number of perspective and interesting forms of the further cooperation which should promote the increase of pedagogical skill of teachers and improvement of level of teaching of foreign languages at university are planned.

Research activity of section of foreign philology is conducted in following basic directions:

1. A technique of teaching of a foreign language and innovative technologies in training of foreign languages.

2. Political linguistics.

3. Contrastive linguistics.
