Since 1943, the department has been functioning as a graduating department and trains qualified specialists who successfully work in various fields of the vast republic. Graduates of the department work in schools in Kazakhstan and neighboring countries, in higher educational institutions and research institutions, on radio and television, in print media and in responsible government positions. Professor N.T.Sauranbaev, Professor M.B.Balaqaev, Professor R.Samir, Professor M.T.Tomanov, Professor M.S.Sergaliev, Professor T.S.Sairambaev (1998-2001), Professor G.N. Smagulova, Professor B.K.Momynova, Professor B.Sagyndykuly, Professor B.Shalabay played an important role in the 75-year history of the department. Well-known Turkic people like N.A.Baskakov, E.R.Tenishev, V.M.Nasilov, A.N.Nadjip lectured at the department. Professor M. Balakaev was the first head of the department of the united department of the Kazakh language and literature. For about 30 years (1952-1975) he headed the department of the Kazakh language. He wrote many works in the field of phonetics, problems of the alphabet, spelling, lexicology, lexicography, terminology, history of language, translation, morphology, syntax, stylistics, language culture, methods of teaching the Kazakh language. Several graduates of the department (Amirov R.S., Akhanov K. A., Bolganbaev B., Isaev S.M., Kaidarov A.T., Kuryshzhanov A.K., Musaev K.M., Sarybaev Sh.Sh., Tomanov M.T., Esenov K., Meiramov G A., Aidarov T., N. Demesinova H., Nurmukanov Kh.M., Orazbayeva F.Sh., Khasanov B., Kusainov K.Sh., Sergaliev M.S., Aitbaev O., Omarbekov S., Kaliev B., Saduakasuly Zh., Zhunisbekov A., E. Zhanpeisov, O. Nakysbekov, S. Myrzabekov, B. Sagyndykuli, B. Shalabaev, G. Smagulova, A. Aldasheva, B. K. Momynova, A. Salkynbai, D. A. Alkebaeva, L. S. Duysembekova and others) defended their doctoral dissertation and received the title of professor. About 100 graduates of the department - candidates of science, associate professors - are teachers of higher educational institutions and employees of research institutes.
