The Academic council of al-Farabi Kazakh National University is a consultative advisory body. The activity of the Academic council of the university is based on the principles of publicity and collective discussion of matters within its competence.
Functions of the Academic Council:
The Academic Council:
Approves the structure of the university;
Implements additions and amendments into the Charter of the university;
Defines the strategy and the concept of the development of the university;
Brings up suggestion on the establishment, reorganization and liquidation of structural subdivisions of the university (laboratories, departments, institutions, faculties etc.);
Takes solutions on all basic matters of organization of educational, scientific research, international, financial, administrative and economic activity of the university;
Hears annual reports of the rector, vice-rectors of the university, deans of the faculty on the forms and methods of conducting academic, scientific research, educational, international, informational, finance and economic and administrative activity;
Organizes the control after the financial and economic activity of the university;
Defines the use of non-budgetary funds and the directions of re-investment of revenues, obtained by the provision of paid educational services and the realization of the produced production;
Defines new direction of training of specialists according to the multilevel of higher professional education, terms and forms of education;
Approves curriculums at all levels and forms of education;
Considers textbooks, tutorials and educational-methodical workouts and recommends them for publication;
Takes decisions on the transfer of students from fee-based education to an educational grant and to training in the form of external studies;
Submits lecturers and professors to the award of scientific degrees;
Considers matters on the submission of university employees and creative teams to state, government awards and honorary titles;
Considers other matters of the activity of the university, which require a collegial decision.
