THE CHAIR OF INTERNATIONAL RELATIONS AND WORLD ECONOMY

    After gaining its independence and entry into the world community of Kazakhstan it was necessary for the young Republic to train qualified specialists in foreign policy, international relations and diplomacy.

    Therefore, on the initiative of professor Zh.U.Ibrashev, the “International Relations “

    Specialty which was included into the Republic Cluster of Specialists was founded. In 1992, the Chair of International Relations and Foreign Policy of Kazakhstan was Established within the Department of History. Since that time a number of structural changes have been implemented within the chair.

    Due to the growth of faculty specified by the process of international programs and other activities of foreign relations it was necessary to focus all three specialties in one faculty. The Chair of International Relations and World Economy was founded by the resolution of the Rector of KazNu in June 2011 through merging of the Chair of World Economy and Area Studies with the Chair of International Relations, training specialists in 3 major fields : “international relations”, “area studies” and “world economy”.

    International Relations and the World Economy Department is a major educational and scientific department that makes a significant contribution to the training of highly qualified specialists nowadays. To strengthen the position of the Republic of Kazakhstan in the modern system of international relations and for successful development of its foreign relations, our country needs highly qualified specialists - international specialists, regional experts and economists, prepared for analytical work, conducting diplomatic negotiations, coordinating international programs and other activities in the field of external economic relations.

    Teachers of the department actively involve their scientific developments into the educational process: these are new lecture courses and innovative seminars.

     Much attention is paid to the individual approach to working with students during the education process, taking into account their specialization. The department reacts to new trends in higher education and the needs of state structures. 

     The department maintains close ties with foreign universities. The students of the department take an active part in the summer school and also practice in foreign universities. The faculty of the department closely cooperates with colleagues from foreign universities. Thanks to these contacts, professors of foreign universities give lectures at the department, hold seminars and conferences. Round tables, conferences concerning actual problems are held the in framework of the department.
