General Information

 

There are approximately 600 students at Journalism Faculty, who are studying 5 different specialties. On Baccalaureate: Journalism, Publishing, Public Relations; on Master program: Journalism, International Journalism, Public Relations, and Publishing; on PhD program: Political Communication and Journalism.
There are circa ten professors, doctors of sciences, 25 docents, candidates of sciences. There are plenty of practicing journalists at the Faculty also.
Cathedra of Publishing and Editorial Skills trains specialists in the field of publishing. Cathedra graduates currently head leading publishing houses of the country. Director of the Cathedra is Docent, Candidate of Philology Sciences Sagat Medeubekov.
Cathedra of Journalism History is one of the fundamental science-oriented Cathedras of Journalism Faculty. Director of the Cathedra is Professor, Doctor of Historical Sciences Sagymbay Kozybayev.
Cathedra of International Journalism attracts students, who are eager to work at foreign bureaus. Future journalists learn two foreign languages, international relations, economics, law, etc. Mentioned subjects help them to cover the policy of our country in local and foreign mass-media. Director of Cathedra is Docent Yelena Dudinova.
Cathedra of Mass-media management and Advertising teaches students the rules of business, advertising and public relations. Students have internships in state and commercial facilities, take part in elections, and learn to create image projects and anti-crisis campaigns. Director of the Cathedra is Aleksandr Rozhkov.
Cathedra of Periodical Press is the main center of journal and newspaper specialists training. The best teachers are working here, who help students to rediscover their creative talents. Director of the Cathedra is Professor, Doctor of Philology Sciences N.I. Nurgozhina.
Cathedra of TV and Radio Journalism is the most popular cathedra, graduates of which become “TV-stars” almost immediately. These skills are teaching by the best TV-journalists of the country. Director of the Cathedra is Docent, Candidate of Philology Sciences Ayazbi Beisenkulov.
UNESCO Cathedra of Journalism and Mass Communication is the scientific center, which has strong international relations and traditions of creating scientific projects for the country. Director of the Cathedra is Professor, Doctor of Philology Sciences Namazaly Omashev.
Media and Communication Scientific Center is the center of multimedia technologies, which allow conducting Internet conferences with universities of Kazakhstan, Russia, Australia, USA and China. It suites Doctoral and Master students’ needs to communicate with their foreign scientific advisors. Director of the Center is Professor, Doctor of Political Sciences Galiya Ibrayeva.
