The chair of a hydrology of a land is opened in September, 1966 and on the present is unique in the Republic which is carrying out preparation of experts-hydrodens.

The first manager of chair of a hydrology of a land was d.g.s, the prof. Korovin V. I. (1966-1971гг.). In different years over chair supervised d.g.s, prof. Litovchenko A.F. (1971-1977), c.t.s., docent Djusenova R. H. (1977-1978), d.t.s., prof. Tursunov A.A. (1978-1985), d.g.s, prof. Davletgaliev S.K. (1985-1993), d.g.s., prof. V.M.Boldyrev (1993-1996), d.g.s, the prof. Sarsenbaev M. H. (1996-2004) . Since 2004 over chair supervises к.т.н., доц. Абдрахимов R.G.Kafedra of a land hydrology is the educational base of preparation of highly skilled experts-hydrodens largest in Republic. Graduates of chair successfully work in scientific sphere, in the industrial organizations and pedagogical establishments. For the 40-year-old period graduates of chair successfully worked and work in Kazgidromet, Academy of Sciences RK, in KazSRIEKe, in other scientific research institutes, in Committee on water resources РК, Kazgiprovodhoze Kazminavtodore and other research-and-production establishments.

As a part of chair, except already listed managers, outstanding scientists of Kazakhstan worked: prof. Abdrasilov S.A., prof. Malkovskij I.M. Nowadays the deputy the director of Institute of geography, deputy pfof. laboratory Institute of geography of prof. Dostaj Zh.D., the prof. Burlibaev M. Zh.
