Faculty of Oriental Studies is the largest center in Kazakhstan to prepare highly qualified specialists with knowledge of Oriental languages. The study of Oriental languages (especially Arabic) at the University dates back to the 70-ies of XX century. Created in 1989 at the Department of History of Asian and African countries and the Chair of Arabic Language Faculty of Oriental Studies is based, so for more than 40-year-old tradition of studying language and history of the East. Today's Faculty of Oriental Studies - is a recognized center of the Kazakh Oriental, where highly qualified teaching staff, made an interesting and creative educational process, conducted research, simmer a rich student life. Fluency in selected Western and Eastern languages, an excellent knowledge of both the stages of historical development and the realities of today's East, the ability to navigate in the contemporary trends in political, economic and spiritual development of the eastern societies, combined with the fundamental and universal university education - has been and remains a distinctive style of Orientalists.Orientalists Kazakhstan explore language, culture, history, trends in domestic and foreign economic development, foreign policy priorities of the East, are involved in formulating and implementing foreign policy doctrine of Kazakhstan.
Students of the Faculty of Oriental Studies of the mass being trained at a foreign university (1-2 years), indicating a well-established contacts with foreign universities, successfully operating the system of credit transfer and, consequently, high academic mobility of students of the faculty.
At the Faculty of Oriental studies eight languages are taught: Arabic, Persian, Chinese, Korean, Turkish, Japanese, Hindi and Urdu, as well as 2 foreign languages: English and French. Teaching staff of the Faculty is about 100 attendees, Including six doctors and professors, 30 PhDs and professors, 5 PhD-doctors. At the faculty are constantly working overseas teachers - native Asian languages.
Faculty has developed the information technology base and takes all measures to create a comfortable learning environment. We have an 8 language classrooms and three computer classrooms, 2 language laboratories, two multi-media class and a video room equipped with modern educational technology. In addition, all departments and language classrooms have computers, audio-visual equipment and projectors, the required training, literature and the press in Oriental languages. All department faculty are connected to the Internet. The Faculty has a spacious reading room, as well as beautifully decorated conference room to them. Al-Farabi. Implementation of the International Dual Degree program can be carried out on several models.
Model 1: 2 + 2, which means - 2-year student studying at our university, 2 years - in a foreign university partner.
Model 2: 3 +1 (a model of many European universities, which have studied foreign languages), 3 years in their home high school, 1 year at a foreign university partner. Model 3: 7 +1, 7 semesters at home university, a semester at a foreign university partner.
