At faculty the great attention is given to students research work. Student’s research work is organized and spent by Council for Scientific research work of students (SRWS) of Mechanics and Mathematics faculty according to the plan. The faculty taught 1316 students and undergraduates, of whom 784 are engaged in SRWS, which represents 60% of the total number of students. Students' Scientific Society is created, which includes students and undergraduates - representatives of all departments of the faculty.

The main SRWS directions are the participation of students:

- In scientific seminars and circles of chairs;

- In republican competition of student's scientific works;

- In competitions of scientific projects and the works spent by the various scientific organizations;

- In work of scientific conferences;

- In the Olympic Games.

The faculty conducts traditional academic KazNU conferences for students and young scientists and conferences based on basic questions of mathematics, mechanics and computer science to younger students and the Olympic Games.
