Scientific activities of the chair are the researches directed on the solution of actual problems of biotechnology and ecology. Under the guidance of Shigayeva M. H. it is received new microbic exo-polysaccharide synthesized by a dimorphous fungi Aureobasidium pullulans (assistant professor V.L.Tszyu, assistant professor L.V.Ignatova). The microflora of national drinks from various regions of Kazakhstan, technologies of bioremediation of the petropolluted soils on the basis of use of the strains- destructors allocated from soils are studying (Doctor in Biology, Prof. T.D. Mukasheva, assistant professor R.Zh.Berzhanova, assistant professor R.K.Sydykbekova). The researches concerning microecology of intestines of human (Doctor in Biology I.S.Savitskaya) are carrying out.

Under the guidance of Prof. B. K.Zayadan the new direction is phototrophic microorganisms for the first time developed. Biochemical, genetic, biotechnological and ecological researches of collection allocated of various sources and received as a result of selection and mutagenic strains of microalgae and cyanobacteriae for the purpose of their use are carried out to bioremediation of the water ecosystems polluted by various pollutants and receiving a valuable biomass.
