Great attention is paid to the research work of students At the Faculty. Research work of students is organized and conducted by the Council for RWS of Department of Mechanics and Mathematics according to the plan. 1,316 students and undergraduates are trained at the faculty,  784 of them are engaged in NIRS, which represents 60% of the total number of students.  Students' Scientific Society has been established, which includes students and undergraduates - representatives of all departments of the faculty.

The main directions of NIRS students’ participation:

- in scientific seminars and circles of the chairs;
- in the national competition of student research papers;
- in competition of scientific projects and work carried out by different research  organizations;
- in scientific conferences;
- in contests of students’ works.

Traditional academic conferences of the U-ty for students and young scholars, and conferences on basic questions of mathematics, mechanics and computer science for the 1st-3d year students and the other contents are held at the Faculty.
