Faculty of Geography,Kazakh National university named by al-Farabi was openned in 1948. Then he had the title ofGeology and Geographyandwas represented by twodepartments-a geological andgeographical.Duewith the closingof the geologicaldepartmentin 1960was renamed into Facultytof Geography. Now the faculty referred to asFaculty of Geography and Environmental Sciences.

The facultyconsists of5 departments:

Sincefrom2010-2011 school yearat the Departmentexpertsare preparingforthe pilot program,wherein the learning processthe number ofelectivesubjectsbrought60% of thetotal number ofsubjectslistened to.In additionto thenew academic yearat the Facultyopened newspecialty5V090300-Land(4 years)and5V090700-Inventory(4 years).At the Department ofEconomic and Social Geographydevelopedtraining programs andcurriculumworkersin these fields.

In such a wayfrom the experimentalprogram of studycredit systemfrom2010-2011 academic yearat the Facultytrainingis carried outinthree-level systemin the following fields:>>

Amountof studentsatthe Faculty of Geographyin the 2013-2014academic year (inyear-end) isabachelorin 1468people, 184master'spersonanddoctoralPhD -10people., including 1536students are enrolled(92,4 %)and 126 ofthe grantunder the agreement (7,6%).

The number of employeesat the FacultyofPPPs- 185people.Staff complementthe Faculty ofPPSis 88teachers, among themdoctors, professors-21candidates of sciences,senior lecturers -64,Senior Lecturer- 60.Part-time40people.Of them,9doctors,professors- 24,and teachers- 7 people.
