The history of the Philosophy and Political Science faculty conducts   the readout since 1947 when the Psychology and logic faculty has been organized, then in 1949 at University the Philosophy and Economic faculties was opened which in 1951 have been incorporated into the Philosophy-Economic faculty. After closing in 1954 under the Decision of the Central Committee of the CPSU, defined that preparation of the philosophical staff should be conducted only in the central high schools of the Soviet Union, the Philosophy - Economic faculty again has been opened in 1968. The next years the new faculties have been organized: Psychology, Political Science, and Sociology. Till 1991 the Philosophy - Economic faculty has been transformed into the two faculties - the Philosophy and Political Science faculty and the Economy and Sociology faculty. In 1997 the branch of Sociology was a part of the Philosophy and Political Science.

Among the first graduates of faculty - Academician National Academy of science of Republic Kazakhstan, Doctor of Philosophy Abdildin Z.M., Doctor of Philosophy, professor Kasymzhanov A.K., Academicians НАН РК, Doctors of Economics Aubakirov Y.A., Sagadiev K.A., Doctor of Philosophy, professor Azhenov M.M., professor Temirbekov S.T. and others. 

The such names of founders of the Kazakhstan psychological, philosophical and political sciences: T.T.Tazhibaeva, A.K. Kasymzhanova, T.K. Mustafina entered in history of faculty with the Gold Letters. Three lecture-halls of the faculty are carried names of these remarkable scientists-teachers. The big contribution on development of faculty Professors N.A. Aitov, K.K. Rakhmatullin, M.S. Orynbekov have brought.

In different years the Philosophy and Political Science faculty was headed by Professors, Doctors of Philosophy Segizbaev O.A., Kasymzhanov A.K., Azhenov M.S., Kasabekov A.K., Doctor of Psychology, Professor Н.А. Loginova. The Doctor of Political Science, Professor Burkhanov K.N. ( Deputy of Majilis of Parliament of the Republic of Kazakhstan) and Doctor of Philosophy, Professor, Member of the National Science Academy of the Republic of Kazakhstan G.Esym (Senator of Parliament of the Republic of Kazakhstan) worked as deans of faculty.

In  2007 for 2010 over faculty supervised the doctor of sociological sciences, professor Shaukenova Z.К.

In  2010 for 2011 over faculty supervised the doctor of philosophy sciences, professor Kulsarieva A.T. 

Since 2010 on the present the dean of faculty of philosophy and political science is the Doctor of Philosophy, professor Masalimova  Aliyа  Rimgazykyzy.   

In activity of faculty during over half century there were periods of prosperity, reorganizations, difficulties, but the stuff coped with them and gained in strength, got up on new steps of the development: got stronger, capable to performance of new, even more complex and important requirements of  reality.
