“Week of Korean Studies” at Kazakh National University named after Al-Farabi

16th of November, 2015 at Kazakh National University named after Al-Farabi at the Faculty of Oriental Studies , Department of the Far East was held, which has become a tradition, "Week of Korean Studies."

A welcoming speech at the opening of the "Week of Korean Studies" made by the Deputy Dean for Research and Innovation and International Relations, Ph.D. Kudaibergenova R.E. and head of department of Korean Studies, Professor Lee Byong Jo

The purpose of the event "Week of Korean Studies" is improving the understanding of Korea by students and teachers, who are specializing in Korean studies, through participation in various activities till one week. Students were given the opportunity to discover the history, traditions, customs and other aspects of Korean culture, as well as talk with officials from Korea. 20th of November, 2015, the last day of the "Week of Korean Studies" Ambassadorial hour was held. After the official greetings of the first vice-rector of Kazakh National University M.M.Burkitbaev and Dean of the Faculty of Oriental Studies Dzhubatova B.N. students and teachers of the department took part at the lecture "Unification of the Korean Peninsula” of Yong-Chun Cho, Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of Korea in Kazakhstan. After the lecture students actively participated in the discussion.

The event was attended by Kim Joon, First Secretary of the General Consulate of Korea in Kazakhstan, Lee Suk Yun, Advisor of General Consulate of Korea in Kazkhstan, Kim Jong Il, Director of Korean Education Center in Almaty.

At the end of the Ambassadorial hour there was an awarding ceremony of students who took part in Korean language competition. Ambassadorial hour finished by students’ musical greeting.
