The workshop on EXPO – 2017 was conducted in Astana with participation of al Farabi researchers

The workshop on the topic: "Promotion of Clean Energy in resource-rich countries: Case Study of Kazakhstan" was held in Astana city from 15-20, August The main idea was to consider and work out some matters related to the EXPO – 2017 realization on rich experience of UK scientists.

It was organized by the Economic Research Institute , Astana and UK University of Reading, the Center for Euro - Аsian Studies within Newton –Al Farabi Partnership Programme.

More than 50 scientists from Great Britain and Kazakhstan, also representatives of the Ministry of Energy RK, the UNO Kazakhstan and kazkhstani enterprises such as "Samruk -Kazyna", "Astana Solar", "KEGOK" company, "Samruk - Green Energy " Samruk -Kazyna Invest" etc.

The UK and Kazakhstani researchers have been discussed on the necessity of transition to the “green ” economy in connection with global challenges including climate changes and exhaustion of natural resources.

Al Farabi researchers – Z.Bimagambetova (PhD), Dr.Ye. Belyayev and Prof. А. Каltayev together with Dr. M.Karatayev (University of Nottingham), researcher of the Newton – al Farabi Programme presented very urgent and actual matters like the measures of State support in the development of Solar Modules, wind and geothermal power projects in Kazakhstan, how to attract investors in this sector of economy and world experience of energy management

In conclusions the speakers focused that the EXPO -2017 will become the continuation and the first step of the started dialogue toward renewable energy development and energy efficiency of Kazakgstan.
