At the Youth Forum, President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev has announced an increase in scholarships to University students and colleges from January 2020 by 25%. Al-Farabi Kazakh National University supports the current and timely initiative of the Head of state.

Summing up the Year of Youth, the President highlighted the state was ready to support young people in all their endeavors.

«One of the pressing issues is increasing scholarships for University students. This issue has been ignored, the scholarship has not been raised since 2016. There were objective reasons for this. Therefore, it has been decided to support students from January 1, 2020, to increase the scholarship to undergraduate, graduate and doctoral students by 25 percent. In general, this will affect about 133 thousand people», - Tokayev emphasized at the closing ceremony of the Year of Youth and the start of the Year of Volunteer in Nur-Sultan city. In addition, the President noted the need to increase scholarships to volunteers.

Today, more than 25 thousand students, undergraduates and doctoral students are studying at Al-Farabi Kazakh National University on a multi-level system of higher professional education. Students of the country’s leading University are actively involved in the volunteer movement, social, educational projects and public life of the country.

«I am glad that the youth of Kazakhstan has a clear civic position on the main issues of state development, and openly expresses it», - said Kassym-Jomart Tokayev. According to the President, there will never be any obstacles to the expression of youth on certain pressing issues of our state public life.

«I am sure that real patriots gathered in this hall who know the history of our people well, honor our statehood and strive for great goals. For its part, the state will strongly support young people in all their endeavors», - concluded the Head of State.
