A collection of poems in Kazakh language by Huseyn Javid, the outstanding poet and playwright of Azerbaijan of the beginning of the 20th century, was presented at Al-Farabi KazNU.

Rector of KazNU, academician Galym Mutanov, Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of the Republic of Azerbaijan in Kazakhstan Rashad Mammadov, academician of the National Academy of Sciences of Azerbaijan Teymur Kerimli, and the prominent public figures, writers and poets, representatives of the Azerbaijani diaspora, teachers and students of the University took part in the solemn event.

Opening the event, Galym Mutanov, highlighted the high level of friendly relations between Kazakhstan and Azerbaijan. «Cooperation between the two countries is dynamically developing in many areas, including the scientific and educational sphere. We have common Turkic historical roots and culture. KazNU has opened the Azerbaijan Cultural Center, which has become a place of attraction for students and teachers studying history, traditions and customs of people of this beautiful country», - said the Rector in his welcoming speech.

The Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Azerbaijan in the Republic of Kazakhstan Rashad Mammadov thanked the leadership and the staff of KazNU for organizing the presentation of the book. He told about the significance of Hussein Javid's creativity not only for Azerbaijanis, but also for the peoples of the Turkic world. «Kazakhstan people have received an excellent opportunity to get closer to the creativity of one of the best and world famous poets of Azerbaijan. This is another spiritual thread connecting two brotherly people», - said the Ambassador. He also noted that with the assistance of the Embassy, the works of Abai have been translated into Azerbaijani language, and a Center for the study of history and culture of Kazakhstan, named after him, was opened in Baku. 

Academician Teimur Kerimli briefed the participants on Huseyn Javid’s creativity, his rich inner world and deep philosophical thoughts. «The poems of the poet and philosopher are being translated into many languages of the world, I am very pleased that they were published in Kazakh language», - said the guest. 

The event was held in a warm and friendly atmosphere, the works of the great poet were performed by KazNU's students in Azerbaijani and Kazakh languages in the event.
