The international GISCA-2018 conference «GIS for regional development» will be held June 14-17, 2018 at Al-Farabi Kazakh National University. GISCA 2018 organized by Geography, Land Management and Cadastre department of Al-Farabi Kazakh National University with the support of Centre for GIS and Geoinformatics of Salzburg University, Research Center for Ecology and Environment of Central Asia of Chinese Academy of Science (RCEECA), ACA*GIScience, Trimble Navigation Company, Science and Technology Park of Al-Farabi Kazakh National University. The GISCA conference publications are managed by the Austria-Central Asia Centre for GIScience - ACA*GIScience supported by Eurasia-Pacific Uninet and the Austrian Academy of Sciences.

The main objectives of this English language conference are to bring together GIS academics, researchers and practitioners from Central Asian and other countries and to encourage international cooperation and knowledge exchange in GIS education.

This conference series serves as a platform for communication, collaboration and learning in Geographic Information Science, GIS and related sciences and technologies.

The GISCA 2018 conference will highlight the experience and results of scientific research of GIS application for regional studies conducted under the leading specialists of universities and research organizations of Central Asian countries.

The conference programme covers plenary sessions, thematic sessions, workshops and cultural programme.

Accepted papers in English will be reviewed published in the Journal of Geography and Environmental Management of Al-Farabi KazNU (http://bulletin-geography.kaznu.kz). Selected papers will be recommended for publication in the International Journal of Geoinformatics (journals.sfu.ca/ijg).
