The Department of World History, Historiography and Source Studies of the Kazakh National University named after al-Farabi organized an international scientific and theoretical conference dedicated to the 70th anniversary and 50th anniversary of the scientific and pedagogical activity of the Chevalier of the Order "Kurmet", Doctor of Historical Sciences, Professor, the director of the Republican Center for the Study of World History, the Honorary Academician of the National Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Kazakhstan, the professor of the Goettingen University, K.T. Zhumagulov on the theme: "World history and international relations in Eurasia in the light of modern integration and modernization."

More than 100 scientific articles of native and foreign scientists from Germany, Italy, Turkey, Uzbekistan, Ukraine, China, such as Professor Fabio Grassi (Rome, La Sapienza University), Professor Misha Meyer (Tübingen University, Germany), Prof. Mehmet Arslan (Istanbul University, Turkey) were considered at the conference. Also, topical issues of studying world history in Kazakhstan, problems of the methodology of modern history in the post-Soviet space; issues of national history in Kazakhstan were discussed. Leading academic historians exchanged views on the problems of forming the national identity of states, critical rethinking and overcoming the totalitarian past in the context of the processes of democratization of society.

The second part of the conference was dedicated to the work of Kalkaman Tursunovich Zhumagulov, the first Kazakh historian-medieval scholar, who went a long way - from the assistant to the professor, the founder of the department of the history of the ancient world and the Middle Ages and its first head, a great scientist and organizer of historical science in Kazakhstan.

In the solemn part of the conference the rector of the Kazakh National University, G.M. Mutanov and prominent figures of education and science, colleagues and students of the scientist appreciated the great contribution of Professor K.T. Zhumagulov in the development of national science and education and wish further successes in the life and work of the famous scientist.
