KazNU – SKOLKOVO: cooperation in hi tech

The Kazakh delegation headed by the rector of al-Farabi KazNU, academician Galym Mutanov visited the innovative structure "SKOLKOVO". The main result of the visit was the agreement on joint development of innovations, science and high technology.

The delegation met with leaders of the SKOLKOVO Foundation and the Department of regional development, General Director of the Technopark and its residents. During the meeting the sides discussed issues of bilateral cooperation and implementation of joint innovative projects.

Particular interest of Russian colleagues called the project of creation of the KazNU innovation and biomedical cluster, as well as an IT Park of the University Alliance of the New silk road, the core of which will be a supercomputer to get grant from the government of China. Representatives of the "SKOLKOVO" has expressed readiness to collaborate in such priority areas as: energy efficiency and conservation, nuclear and space technologies, telecommunications and biomedical, IT technologies and software.

The sides also expressed readiness to use the experience gained in the commercialization of joint development and implementation in the real sector of the economy of the two countries. During the visit to SKOLKOVO Institute of science and technology, created with the participation and cooperation of the Massachusetts Institute of technology (USA) discussed issues of preparation of highly qualified specialists of a new generation of researchers and entrepreneurs.

SKOLKOVO includes an innovation center, a special Fund, the Institute of science and technology ("Skoltech"), about 2 thousand residents, carrying out research and entrepreneurial activities with the overall level of commercialization of more than 124 billion ruble (RUR).
