UNIVERSITY 4.0 – A NEW ERA IN HIGHER EDUCATION

A solemn meeting of the international scientific-practical conference ««XXII academic reading "Education Reform: what it should be»» devoted to the 25th anniversary of the founding of the International Academy of Higher school Sciences (IHEAS) was held in Moscow (Russian Federation). The event was attended and made presentations scientists of the National Academy of Sciences of Higher school of Kazakhstan (NAS MSC).

The statement by the President of the national Academy of Sciences MSC, rector of the al-Farabi KazNU, academician Galym Mutanov, who presented a model for the development of the University – the University 4.0 had a great interest and a lively response from the participants. The mission of the University of the new generation – to convey to young people the ideals of peace, goodness and justice, active citizenship, sounded a refrain in the concept of G. Mutanov was met with genuine interest.  

The new University model is particularly relevant in the context of globalization and rapid development of new technologies. An important task of universities is not only to prepare highly qualified and competitive specialists, but also the spiritual formation of young people as citizens of the country and the world. The main thing in this work is a programmatic article of President Nursultan Nazarbayev «Course towards the future: modernization of Kazakhstan’s identity».

KazNU rector quoted a famous scientist-investigator K. E. Tsiolkovsky in his report: «I do not recognize technological progress, if it exceeds the ethical process...». – «I am confident that if every University realizes its mission to become «Smart University» and the locomotive of progressive economic, social and cultural changes in society, the challenge to make the world a more virtuous will be implemented».

The great thinker of the East Abu Nasr al-Farabi, whose name has KazNU, said that knowledge without education, without moral principle can bring harm, not well. As rector noted - the realization of this truth prompted him to the formulation of a new model of University development.

According to the President of the IHEAS, a prominent scientist, conceptualist, higher school V. E. Shukshunov statement of Galym Mutanov was «an outstanding event, the philosophical and practical direction that determines the development of higher education in the modern world».

Scientists unanimously expressed the idea that the universities are entrusted with the highest public-big mission – to improve the education of the nation, its intellectual, cultural, moral potential, to form a new spiritual values and upbringing of the younger generation.
