UI GreenMetric Ranking of World Universities 2017

UI GreenMetric released the results of its UI GreenMetric World Ranking Universities. This is the eighth edition of ranking which compares universities’ efforts towards campus sustainability and environment friendly university management.

The results are computed from information provided by universities online. This year the information is organized under Six main categories. These categories, and their weightings, are: Green Statistics (15%), Energy and Climate Change (21%), Waste management (18%), Water usage (10%), Transportation (18%), and Education (18%).

This year 619 universities from 76 countries took part, which is an increase from last year with 516 universities from 74 countries. Apart from the US, the UK, Japan, Spain, Italy, South America, Chinese Taipei and countries in Europe, Asia, and Africa, the 2017 results include universities from Algeria, Bahrain, Finlandia, Honduras, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, New Zealand, Nicaragua, Nigeria, Norwegia and Venezuela.

Al-Farabi Kazakh National University on the basis of the ranking took 186 place among 619 universities in the world, gaining 5089 points. Green Statistics: Setting and Infrastructure (855), Energy and Climate Change (1441), Waste management (774), Water usage (280), Transportation (912), and Education (827).
