Was held XVIII World Korean Forum
Within two days, on August 2-3, in the main hall of the Al-Farabi KazNU scientific library was held XVIII World Korean Forum, dedicated to the 80th anniversary of the Koreans living in Kazakhstan. The main theme of the forum: "Peaceful coexistence, exchange and cooperation in the worldwide multi-ethnic and multi-cultural era."
The Forum was organized by the Global Korean Foundation (WKF) and Al-Farabi Kazakh National University. Association of Koreans of Kazakhstan and the Consulate General of the Republic of Korea in Almaty provided support for this event. The supervisor from the Kazakhstan and one of the co-organizers of the forum were doctor of historical sciences, professor of the history department, director of the Central Asia Center of Konguk University (Seoul), vice-president of ACC Herman Kim. According to him, preparatory work for this international project was conducted for several years, and the fact that the forum is held in Kazakhstan confirms the status of the republic. During its existence, the Global Korean Foundation held seventeen annual forums at the world's largest universities in the megalopolises of Europe, Asia, North America and Australia. The main activity of the Foundation is aimed to the development of international relations between Republic of Korea and other countries in global economic, political and social processes.
About 150 people took an active part in this forum: prominent politicians, diplomats, clergymen, famous scientists, writers, businesspersons, media representatives, leaders of public organizations from more than 12 countries. Also, this job was joined by a delegation of a memorial train who repeated the path of deported Koreans from the Russian Far East to Central Asia in 1937 - faculty staff and students of the Al-Farabi KazNU. 80 participants of the memorial train set off on July 23 from Vladivostok and arrived on August 1 at the railway station of city Ushtobe, where more than ten thousand deported Koreans landed 80 years ago.
Within the framework of the forum, participants were able to communicate in an informal atmosphere and share opinions. The next Global Korean Forum will be held next year in the Republic of Korea.
