History of HSM

 

The Higher School of Medicine (HSM) of the Faculty of Medicine and Health, al-Farabi of KazNU was created by order of the rector of July 5, 2018 (order No. 368) to implement educational programs in the specialty "General Medicine".

In 2018-2019, the first enrollment of students for the specialty "General Medicine" was accepted in the amount of 52 students, including domestic and foreign students. Currently, 1045 people are studying, including an internship and a bachelor's degree. Including 671 students from 26 foreign countries: India, Turkmenistan, Afghanistan, Pakistan, Turkey, Iraq, Syrian Arab Republic, South Africa, Yemen, China, Kenya, Palestine, USA, Russia, Uzbekistan, Somalia, Sudan, Jordan, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Egypt, Ireland, Italy, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Tanzania. Training is conducted in three languages: English, Russian and Kazakh according to the following educational programs:

Department of Fundamental Medicine

The Department of Fundamental Medicine trains students of the Higher School of Medicine of all specialties in basic medical disciplines - molecular and cell biology, medical genetics, medical biophysics, histology, normal and pathological anatomy, normal and pathological physiology, immunology, pharmacology, etc. The department also implements educational programs for Bachelor's, Master's, PhD in Pharmacy and Master's in Biomedicine.

 

The faculty of the department is represented by more than 80 teachers, including: 7 doctors of medical sciences, 1 doctor of biological sciences, 26 candidates of sciences and doctors of PhD, 33 masters. 10 teachers have foreign diplomas. The team is mostly represented by doctors (55 people), as well as specialists in the field of biology, biotechnology, chemistry, physics.

 

Research interests of the department staff: cancer biology, normal and pathological human morphology, molecular pathology, interdisciplinary research at the intersection of chemistry and medicine, in the context of the development of new materials for medical use, such as: biodegradable polymers; physical and chemical methods of air purification; materials for medical devices obtained using additive technologies (3D printing); pharmaceutical development of medicinal products from medicinal plants; methodology of medical education, etc.

The department trains highly qualified and competitive specialists with professional knowledge, skills, and abilities in accordance with the state compulsory standards of higher professional education in the specialties "General Medicine", "Dentistry" ..

The purpose of the department is to organize and conduct:

Department of Clinical Specialties

 

The department trains highly qualified healthcare personnel in clinical specialties with deep theoretical and applied knowledge, competencies at the postgraduate level in educational programs of internship, residency, master's and doctoral studies.

Scientific activity is aimed at organizing and conducting fundamental, exploratory and applied scientific research in the field of medicine and the problems of multilevel professional education.

The teaching staff of the department is represented by 9 doctors of sciences, 8 candidates of sciences in the specialties: obstetrics and gynecology, pediatrics, neonatology, hematology oncology, cardioreumatology, nephrourology, infectious diseases, surgery, urology, cardiac surgery, dentistry, radiation diagnostics, etc.
