On May 29, 2023, the Department of General and Inorganic Chemistry of the Faculty of Chemistry and Chemical Technology of Al-Farabi Kazakh National University organized a presentation of the handbook "Emergency Response Manual (ERG)" in the Meeting Room of the Academic Council named after E. Ergozhin. This guide is used by many emergency response services around the world and helps rescue specialists to recognize accidents involving dangerous chemicals, identify life-threatening substances, choose protective equipment and evacuation strategies, mitigate damage to the population and the environment and, ultimately, save lives.

In accordance with the Educational program in the specialty “Petrochemistry” and taking into account the main goals for sustainable development adopted in 2015 by the UN General Assembly, professors of the department L.R. Sassykova, Z.H. Tashmukhambetova and Y.A. Aubakirov read a course of lectures in Kazakh, English and Russian languages “Actual Ecological Aspects of Petrochemical Manufactures” for Master’s degree students. The lecturers of the course for this discipline published a textbook in English “L.R. Sassykova, Y.A. Aubakirov, Z.K. Tashmukhambetova. Actual ecological aspects of petrochemical manufactures. ISBN 978-601-04-4096-8. Almaty, Qazaq University”, in separate chapters of which the essence and ways of solving Goals No3, 6, 7, 12, 13 and 15 of the UN Sustainable Development are described. Classes in the discipline include such forms of training as a discussion platform, a quiz, game methods; as part of the educational process, topics on ensuring a healthy lifestyle (UN Goal No. 3), problems of climate change on the planet (UN Goal No. 13); air pollution, soil, water resources, their purification and rational use (UN Goals No. 6, 13, 15); synthesis of inexpensive modern energy sources (UN Goal No. 7) are comprehensively discussed. It should be noted that the authors of the manual have many years of experience in participating in scientific projects that correspond to the Sustainable Development Goals adopted by the UN (UN Goals No. 6, 7, 15). They have reported scientific results at international conferences and published articles in publications indexed in Scopus, Web of Science databases. Students of the department not only master the course of lectures and take part in discussions, but also work within the framework of scientific projects on topics relevant to the Sustainable Development Goals (UN Goals No6, 7, 12, 13, 15) under the guidance of professors and teachers of the department.

On May 11, 2023, a memorial plaque dedicated to a prominent public and statesman, organizer of the Higher school of Kazakhstan, Honored Scientist of the USSR, Doctor of Chemical Sciences, Professor, Academician of the National Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Kazakhstan, who for 18 years headed the Council of Veterans of the city of Almaty, Shaykhutdinov Yeregaip Malikovich, was opened in Almaty.

The international scientific and practical conference "Modern Trends of Higher Education and Science in the Field of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering" dedicated to the 90th anniversary of the birth of Academician of the National Academy of Sciences of Kazakhstan Yerengaip Shaikhutdinov has started at the Al-Farabi Kazakh National University.

On April 22, 2023, the 3rd National Intellectual Game "League of chemist's" was held at the Faculty of Chemistry and Chemical Technology, organized by the Department of Physical Chemistry, Catalysis and Petrochemistry and 2nd-year students of the specialty " Pharmaceutical manufactory technologies". The tournament was attended by 7 teams from al-Farabi KazNU and KazNITU. Satpayev.

The tour was very interesting and impressive. The event was attended by various groups who were able to show their strengths. At the first stage, the participants were introduced to a video demonstrating creativity, at the next stages, the participants demonstrated their knowledge in various fields of chemistry. The 1st and 2nd places were taken by the teams "Phlogiston" and "Ferrum" of Al-Farabi KazNU and the 3rd place was taken by the team "Almaz" of KazNITU. Satpayeva (team members: Baytemirova Nurgul, Amangeldi Asem, Kazybai Indira, Karazhanova Aigansha, Mustafa Khali, team leader: Myrzabekova Sharbanu Umetaevna) were awarded diplomas, as well as teams that actively participated in the game received certificates in various nominations.

From April 24 to April 28, 2023 from 10:00 to 17:00 at the Faculty of Chemistry and Chemical Technology, the Department of General and Inorganic Chemistry organizes an international school on "Environmental radioactivity monitoring" together with the Japan Atomic Agency.
