In the KazNU. al-Farabi opened Ban Ki-moon Institute for Sustainable Development

May 17, 2018 on the platform of the Astana Economic Forum (AEF) in Astana, KazNU. Al-Farabi opened the Institute for Sustainable Development of the name of Ban Ki-moon. This decision was announced following the results of successful university leadership in the field of sustainable development.

 

In the framework of the AEF events, the rector of KazNU academician Galym Mutanov presented to the international academic community the concept and directions of work of the Institute of Sustainable Development. He noted that due to the active work of Ban Ki-moon in the post of Secretary General, the United Nations global projects - the program "Academic Influence", programs on sustainable energy and others, were initiated, and the Goals of sustainable human development were defined.

KazNU. al-Farabi became a member and then one of the ten global hubs of the UN Program "Academic Influence" and made a significant contribution to the implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals at many international venues, including the "G-Global" platform.

He also stressed that this is a success for the whole of Kazakhstan and once again confirms the growing world authority of the country and the national university. At the meeting, rector Galym Mutanov and Ban Ki-moon signed the intention of cooperation and joint work in promoting the activities of the Institute of Sustainable Development of KazNU.
