For eight decades with advantage and honor the oldest educational institution of the republic - the Kazakh national university of named after al-Farabi has been carrying out the noble mission. It always was and remains one of the centers of educational activity, the advanced scientific thought and creative aspirations. Geography is an integral part of the structure of modern classical university education. In Kazakhstan for many years as a part of university the Geography faculty has been the special division that trains specialists for educational, scientific and industrial establishments. To train high quality experts the activity of professor-teaching staff of Geography faculty is also directed. |

Faculty history testifies to its continuing structural reform, open to new skills, as well as a range of specializations to meet modern requirements.For 63 years of the existence the faculty has trained more than 5 thousand specialists of a geographical profile: geographers, meteorologists, hydrologists, ecologists, cartographers, managers of tourism. Graduates of university successfully work in establishments, divisions and firms of a geological, economic, ecological profile, in system KAZHYDROMET, Water Resources, at higher and secondary schools.

The future of our country is impossible without deep geographical knowledge practically for all branches of science, economy and business, reflecting processes of spatial development of natural and ecological processes, economy and population movings in the country, regional and global levels. Due to economic-geographical, geoecological and geopolitical position and non-compactness of territories Kazakhstan needs shots of the geographers possessing spatial thinking for management of territorial resources, literally it is not only natural resources, but also the conditions allocated in huge potential.
