Kazakhstan was represented by 440 sportsmen performing in 25 Olympic sports in 37 sports disciplines.

In the asset of the national team of Kazakhstan 76 medals - 15 gold, 17 silver and 44 bronze medals.

24 students of KazNU took part in 12 sports. Athletes-students of the University won 13 medals.

On the account of athletes-students KazNU: 3 gold medals - water polo (Aubakirov Miras, Akhmetov Ruslan and Lipilin Pavel), 5 silver medals (Bozbaev Islam, Berdymbekova Iolanta - judo, Kaisanov Daniyar - free wrestling, Kebisbaev Almat, Tynaliev Nurmakhan - Greco-Roman wrestling) , 6 bronze medals (Khabibulina Aibike - saber, fencing; Dmitry Balandin - swimming 50m, 100m breaststroke, relay race; Musin Adilbek - swimming 50m batterfly, relay race).

Not bad made the team of the Republic of Kazakhstan for synchronized swimming, taking fourth place. The team consists of 5 students of KazNU.
