The working meeting with the delegation of the European organization for nuclear research (CERN) has taken place at al-Farabi KazNU, where the parties discussed plans of further cooperation.

Earlier, the delegation of scientists of KazNU paid a visit to CERN, and following the meeting an agreement was reached on the practical training of undergraduates and doctoral candidates of PhD, on academic exchange with universities-partners CERN, the implementation of the final master work on the basis of CERN.

Rector of KazNU Galym Mutanov noted that the University has great potential to further expand areas of cooperation in the field of nuclear physics, astrophysics, nuclear medicine, energy, geology. More recently the young scientists of the University were awarded fellowships at the research Center CERN and the students participated in the summer school and learned to program in accelerator physics.

Director's adviser for international relations CERN Tadeusz Kurtyka focused on the need to establish close cooperation between Kazakhstan and the European organization for nuclear research (CERN) and become a member. This step will be the impetus for further development of research in the field of high energy physics and elementary particle physics. He also noted that CERN is interested in joint activities with the university because KazNU has been implementing the program of transformation of the University into a research University of world level and carries out fundamental and applied research in the field of nuclear science and technology.

In conclusion the parties signed a Declaration aimed at productive activities in educational, scientific, and technical fields. In the framework of the Memorandum will be carried out joint fundamental and applied research in the field of high energy physics, nuclear and atomic physics, technical Sciences, information technologies and computing. Scientists will exchange experience, to participate with other academic and research centers of Kazakhstan in General education and training programmes, the organization of schools and seminars for students-physicists, and to develop training programmes for doctor's degree students.
