As part of the Spring School conducted by the Department of Health Policy and Organization of the Faculty of Medicine and Health from April 10 to April 14, 2023, seminars, consultations and open lectures on topical issues of research planning were held by visiting professor of the Department of Health Policy and Organization A. M. Grjibovski.

A.M. Grjibovski has been working as a visiting professor at the department since 2019. Currently, he is the head of the Department for Scientific and Innovative Work of the Federal State Budgetary Educational Institution of Higher Education of the NSMU of the Ministry of Health of the Russian Federation, a professor at Sechenov University (Moscow), and a chief researcher at the Arctic Monitoring Laboratory. In 2001-2017 he worked as a senior adviser to the Chief Epidemiologist of Norway, a senior adviser to the University of Oslo on biostatistics, and a professor of public health at the Arctic University of Norway, coordinated Norway Grants & European Economic Area Grants in the field of healthcare in Europe, he has been an expert Russian Science Foundation since 2022.

He is an author of more than 600 scientific publications, including more than 200 full-text articles in Web of Science/Scopus journals, inc

luding Q1. H-index - 23. Editor-in-Chief of the journal "Human Ecology" (Scopus Q3), associate editor from the Russian Federation in the Internaitonal Journal of Circumpolar Health (WoS, Scopus Q2), column editor in Vaccines (Scopus Q2). WHO expert analyst on assessing the vulnerability of the population of Kazakhstan to climate change (2011-2012).

During the cooperation with KazNU he has published more than 40 articles with KazNU affiliation in peer-reviewed journals indexed in the Scopus and Web of Science databases, he is a scientific consultant for 8 doctoral students. Professor is the initiator of 3 scientific projects with the participation of teachers of the department, constantly lectured and conducted seminars for undergraduates and doctoral students in the disciplines "Biostatistics", "Advanced Epidemiology".

Open lectures of  visiting professor of the Department of Health Policy and Organization A.M. Grjibovski devoted to the promotion of scientific projects from the idea to the implementation of results and publication, biostatistics issues (Multivariate methods for analyzing biomedical data, choosing a statistical criterion for data analysis depending on the goals of the study: review, strategy, nuances, etc.). Master and PhD students of the Faculty of Medicine of Al-Farabi KazNU, S.D. Asfendiyarov KazNMU, KSPH and KRMU participated in this event.

Prof. A.M. Grjibovski has been working with Kazakh universities since 2011. During this time, he has trained 47 PhDs.

Prof. Andrej Mechislavovich Grjibovski was awarded the title of “Honorary Professor of Al-Farabi Kazakh National University” for an invaluable contribution to the development of the faculty of medicine and healthcare of KazNU and productive work.

On April 13, 2023 the Vice-Rector for Academic Affairs, Prof. Yerkimbayeva Lyazzat Kalymbekovna awarded a certificate and a gown.

On April 13-14, 2023, within the framework of the spring school, open lectures on topical issues of research planning will be held by visiting professor of the Department of Health Policy and Organization A. M. Grzhibovsky.

The purpose of the event is to teach about the choice of methodology and research design, statistical analysis of biomedical data and publication in international peer-reviewed journals.

About the lecturer:

A.M. On April 10, 2023, a training seminar on “How to use Scopus and SciVal tools for scientific projects and publications” was held at the Al-Farabi National Kazakh University, the speaker of which was Elsevier Advisor for Central Asia and Azerbaijan, PhD Rabiga Khojamkul.                                                                                        

Young teachers of the Department of Health Policy and Organization took an active part in this seminar, where the following points were explained: ways to effectively use the Scopus database, the ability to choose a relevant topic for an article, the publication of an article in scientific journals with a high rating in the shortest possible time, and much more. The training seminar was held at the highest level

On June 1-3, 2022, the Conference on Saving Human Health in the Arctic was held in Arkhangelsk as part of the program of the Chairmanship of the Russian Federation in the Arctic Council (2021-2023). The conference brought together 317 participants from 20 cities of Russia, the Republics of Kazakhstan and Belarus.

The Conference was attended by candidate of medical sciences Kalmakhanov Sundetgali Berkinuly - Deputy Director for Research and Innovation and International Relations of the Higher School of Public Health of the Faculty of Medicine and Health, Associate Professor of the Department of Health Policy and Organization of Al-Farabi Kazakh National University and made a presentation on the topic : "Relationship between temperature and mortality from cardiovascular diseases in the cold season in Almaty, Kazakhstan" at the Section "Problems associated with climate change and biosecurity in the Arctic"

Al-Farabi Kazakh National University On April 7, 2022, the international scientific conference of students and young scientists "Farabi alemi" was held. Issaeva Assiya, a 1st-year master student of the specialty "Management in healthcare", was awarded a diploma of the 1st degree in the section "Actual Issues of Medicine, Public Health and Health Care".

Assiya Marat Issayeva is the author of 31 scientific articles, including 9 articles in journals recommended by the Committee for Control in Education and Science of the Ministry of Education and Science of the Republic of Kazakhstan, 9 articles in journals of the Higher Attestation Commission. 3 articles in journals indexed in SCOPUS (Q1, Q3) and 3 publications in international conference proceedings. H-index is 3. In 2021, she presented together with Yeralieva L.T. poster presentation at the ESPID-39 conference (Switzerland, Geneva). Since 2019, the scientific mentor of Assiya Issayeva is Doctor of Medical Sciences, Professor Yeralieva L.T. (jointly published 10 scientific articles). From 2018 to 2021, she was a specialist of the scientific department of JSC "Central Clinical Hospital" at the Medical Center of the Administration of the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

At the international scientific conference "Farabi alemi" Issayeva Assiya under the guidance of scientific supervisors Gulnur Z. Tanbayeva (Doctor of Medical Sciences, Professor, MBA, Al-Farabi State Prize Laureate in the field of technology and science) and Lyazzat T. Yeraliyeva (Doctor of Medicine, Professor, Corresponding Member of the Russian Academy of Natural Sciences, Deputy Director for Clinical and Scientific Work of the RSE on REM "National Scientific Center for Phthisiopulmonology of the Republic of Kazakhstan" of the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Kazakhstan) made a presentation on the topic "Analysis of morbidity and mortality from pneumonia in children under 1 year old from 2010 to 2020 in the Republic of Kazakhstan”. In her report, Assiya Marat presented the results of a study of the analysis of the dynamics of incidence and mortality of pneumonia in children under 1 year of age in the Republic of Kazakhstan for 10 years since the introduction of vaccination against pneumococcal infection in the National Immunization Schedule of the Republic of Kazakhstan in 2010. From 2010 to 2020, the incidence of pneumonia in children under 1 year of age tends to decrease in absolute numbers. In 2010, this indicator was 17,761 cases of morbidity, and in 2020, the indicator decreased by 52.1% compared to 2010, and amounted to 8493 cases. The conducted studies allowed the authors to conclude that with the introduction of vaccination against pneumococcal infection in the national vaccination schedule of the Republic of Kazakhstan in 2010, there is a clear trend towards a decrease in the incidence of pneumonia in children under 1 year old from 2010 to 2020 from 54.1 to 20.1 cases. per 1000 people. This work was carried out as part of the master's work of Issayeva Assiya entitled "The impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on the implementation of preventive measures in the clinic on the example of vaccination against pneumococcal infection."

Independent Agency for Accreditation and Rating (IAAR) is the leading international accreditation agency for quality assurance in education (founded in 2011).

January 2022 Master's educational program " 7M10104- Medicine (clinician-scientist)", which is based at the faculty of Medicine and Health care of Al-Farabi Kazakh National University, successfully passed the international institutional and specialized accreditation at the “INDEPENDENT AGENCY OF ACCREDITATION AND RATING” (IAAR) for a period of 5 years.

In the course of the work, international experts were familiarized with all the possibilities for ensuring the educational process of undergraduates, as well as in the course of conversations and questionnaires with current undergraduates, graduates, including employers. On the occasion of the 30th anniversary of Independence of the Republic of Kazakhstan, together with the Public Fund "Fraction of Youth of Kazakhstan" and the youth wing "Jas Otan" with the support of the social development department under the akimat of the city of Almaty, the project "CREATIVE JASTAR" was held.

The project was attended by a 1-year undergraduate student in the specialty "Health Management" of the Department of Health Policy and Organization of the Faculty of Medicine and Health care of the Al-Farabi Kazakh national University  - Qaldarbek Orynbasar Nurlanuly.

The exhibition "Best Innovative Startups" was held within the framework of the project. The best 25 contestants, who passed several stages of selection, defended their projects in 12 nominations in front of the jury, experts and sponsors of the competition. During the event, 25 of the best 500 projects were presented, aimed at developing the innovative potential of youth, as well as developing the creative economy of our country. There were presented projects for the production of dental and medical simulators, projects to combat the environmental situation in the city, an innovative smart home system, a project for the production of a breather for purifying indoor air, the development of a mobile application to inform about upcoming events, the creation of a center for special people, and also projects for the development of tourism in the country.

The winner in the "Best innovative project" nomination was Orynbasar Nurlanuly Qaldarbek with the «BIO-Laboratory «ANB »  project, the essence of the project is ANB biolaboratory - as an alternative to traditional gypsum

International Conference - UHC: opportunities and challenges

On December 10, 2021, the International Conference “UHC: Opportunities and Challenges” was held at the Al-Farabi Kazakh national University under the motto " Leave No One’s Health Behind: Invest in health systems for all"

The conference is dedicated to the World Health Coverage Day, announced by the United Nations and the 30th anniversary of the Independence of the Republic of Kazakhstan. The conference was organized by the Department of Health Policy and Organization of Al-Farabi Kazakh national University in collaboration with the WHO European Center for PHC, Salidat Kairbekova National Research Center for Health Development, Association of Family Physicians of Kazakhstan (AFPK), National Association "Primary health care".

The conference was attended by speakers from the CIS countries, in particular from Belarus, the Russian Federation, Ukraine, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, as well as the technical adviser of the WHO European Center for PHC, PhD, Professor Arnoldas Yurgutis, the conference participants were representatives of PHC, universities of the CIS countries, practical doctors, students and etc.

The purpose of the event is to support and develop the main ideas of UHC. The case for universal health coverage has never been more compelling than it is today with the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.

The conference began with a welcoming speech by the Technical Adviser of the WHO European Center for PHC Yurgutis A., President of the Kazakh Academy of Nutrition, Academician of the National Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Kazakhstan Sharmanov T.Sh., Deputy Director of the Salidat Kairbekova National Research Center for Health Development, further continued with oral presentations and panel discussion of speakers from the CIS countries and Kazakhstan.

The next largest international scientific conference of students and young scientists "Farabi Alemi" was held at the Al-Farabi Kazakh National University from 6 to 8 April 2021.

This year, due to the unfavorable epidemiological situation and the effect of quarantine measures, the conference was held online.

Sessions in two directions were held at the Faculty of Medicine and Healthcare: SECTION 1: Topical issues of medicine, public health and health care, SECTION 2: Theoretical and practical aspects of healthy lifestyle, physical culture, sports and sports medicine. Within the framework of the conference, reports of a theoretical, experimental and applied nature were heard in various fields of medicine and health care.

According to the results of the competition for young scientists, our undergraduates won prizes in the section: "Topical issues of medicine, public health and health care", which was attended by young scientists from all over Kazakhstan and countries of near and far abroad.

The scholarship competition consisted of 2 (two) rounds, at the end of each of which the best students were selected. The selection was tough.
First round-all applications received on time were reviewed and evaluated in absentia by independent experts on several criteria that are important and characterize the applicant from the best side. Out of 560 applications, only 40 were selected for the second round.
Participants of the second round were invited to face-to-face selection, which was conducted in the form of a business game. During this game, independent experts and psychologists evaluated the following qualities of students on a five-point scale: leadership skills,
ability to work in a team; clarity and reasonableness in setting tasks, learning ability and ability to quickly perceive and analyze new information, organizational skills, communication skills, ability to adapt to a new situation and find non-standard solutions, patriotism, knowledge of Kazakh, English and Russian languages; and others. At the end of the second round of the scholarship competition, 25 students were selected.

Everyone knows about the coronavirus pandemic. And everyone wants to contribute as much as possible to the cause of eliminating the epidemic. Employees brought a sewing machine to the Department and for a few days the Department turned into a mini sewing workshop for sewing reusable masks. Colleagues appreciated this volunteer gesture of the Department of health Policy and organization and gratefully accepted the "present"required at this time. Science Slam Almaty competition of scientific projects

On November 23, 2018, the final of Science Slam Almaty competition of scientific projects was held at the Eurasian Technological University. The undergraduate of the Department of Healthcare Policy and Organization for the specialty “Medicine” Tulepova Gaukhar with her research project “Self-evaluation of the clinical activities of a doctor at the private AMC clinic of Almaty” passed to the final of the competition. The purpose of the study is to develop a method of self-assessment of the clinical activities of a doctor at the private AMC clinic in Almaty. Tulepova Gaukhar will analyze the clinical activities of the doctors of the private AMC clinic (general practitioner, pediatrician, cardiologist, endocrinologist, gynecologist, urologist, neurologist) for 2018–2019. The results of this research project will be ready by the summer of 2019.

Lecturer: Director of the Central City Clinical Hospital of Almaty, Maslikhat Deputy , Doctor of Medical Sciences, Professor Abdullaev Marat Shadybaevich. Participants were teaching staff of the medical faculty; master course students of the medical faculty; students of the Medical Faculty. During the lecture the principles of compulsory social health insurance were explained and answers to all exciting questions were received.
