The UN Secretary General pointed out the work of KazNU in the field of sustainable development.

In Seoul (South Korea) took place the second forum of the UN academic impact, which summed up the work over the past year and outlined the agenda for strategic development after 2015. The importance of this event is that it was held in the year of preparation for the adoption of a global strategy of sustainable development goals that will be determined by the General Assembly of the United Nations.

The event was attended by UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon, UNESCO Director-General Irina Bokova, the special adviser of the Secretary-General Jeffrey Sachs, heads of structural divisions of the UN, government officials, Nobel laureates, heads of international and non-governmental organizations and rectors of leading universities of the world.

Forum participants spoke positively about the initiatives of Kazakhstan of the decision of global problems of mankind – a global strategy for energy security, "Green bridge", "G-Global" and others "Academic community makes an important contribution to solving the most complex problems of humanity, contributes to sustainable development and the preservation of peace. Al-Farabi KazNU as a global Hub of the UN program "Academic Impact" on sustainable development, takes an active part in the protection of ecology and environment, is working to promote the ideas of sustainable development, conducts research and develops projects of alternative and renewable energy sources," - marked the Director of the Department of public information of the UN and head of the “Academic Impact” program Ramu Damodaran.

During the Forum delegates from around the world discussed the agenda of human development since 2015, which builds on the achievements of the Millennium Development Goals and aims to address the global problems of the world. In addition, they have developed a "roadmap" for 2015, aimed to the addressing common problems in the field of academic influence and strengthen global academic links between universities.
