Chair history
The Department of General Education of the Preparatory Faculty for Foreign Citizens of Al-Farabi Kazakh National University was established in June 1985 by order of the Ministry of Higher and Secondary Special Education of the USSR No. 425. The main goal is to prepare foreign citizens for admission to higher educational institutions of the Soviet Union.
When the Department of General Education of the Preparatory Faculty for Foreign Citizens was established, K. A. Akkoshkarova was the head of the Department. department, A. A. Nurmagambetov, J. S. Sadykov, O. K. Kanlybaev, E. A. Katekov, K. S. Bolsanbekova, N. B. Abdullaev, E. M. Matlina, A.M. Tatenov and other invited teachers in the specialties of physics, mathematics, chemistry, drawing.
In the first years, representatives of the Kazakh diaspora from 54 countries, the People's Republic of China, the Republic of Mongolia, Turkey, Iran, the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan, Pakistan, France and other CIS countries arrived at the Department of Pre-university training.
The staff of the Department of pre - university training faced the following tasks:
• Improvement and strengthening of the educational process in order to prepare students for training and comprehensive testing in higher educational institutions of the Republic of Kazakhstan;
• to systematize the knowledge obtained in the state language, to master important concepts, to replenish the knowledge necessary for continuing education in higher educational institutions;
• introduction of innovative teaching methods and methods into the educational process;
• development of scientific methods of teaching subjects in Kazakh and Russian as foreign languages, implementation of its results in the educational process;
• formation of students' communicative competence in professional, educational, social, cultural and socio-political spheres in Kazakh and Russian.
Since 2001, the department has taken over the work of the preparatory department for representatives of the foreign Kazakh diaspora. This work, initiated by N. A. Nazarbayev, allowed our compatriots to return to their native lands and get an education in higher educational institutions of the country. By the order of the rector of Al-Farabi Kazakh National University No. 20 dated 10.02.2009 and the decision of the Academic Council of the University No. 4 dated 27.02.2009, the department was named "Department of Pre-university training" and began its work in a new direction.

Akkoshkarova Kuralai Akhmetovna - Professor, Candidate of Physical and Mathematical Sciences. In 1972, after graduating from the Physics Department of KazGU, she was sent to graduate school at the A. A. Baykov Metallurgical Institute in Moscow. In 1976, she defended her PhD thesis on the topic: "Some laws in time diffusion in multiphase binary systems."From 1976 to 1985, she worked as a senior lecturer, associate professor at the Faculty of Physics, from 1982 to 1984, deputy dean.In 1985-2001 she worked as the head of the Department of General Education Disciplines, in 1998-2003 as the dean of the Preparatory faculty for Citizens, in 2003-2009 and 2009-2013 as the head of the Department of pre-university training. Since 2006, corresponding member of the Engineering Academy of the Republic of Kazakhstan. Author of more than 70 scientific papers, textbooks. She made a great contribution as the founder of the department. |

Aldabek Nurgul Abdrazakova - Candidate of Philological Sciences, Associate Professor. В 1996 году окончила филологический факультет Казахского национального университета им. аль-Фараби с отличием по специальности «казахский язык и литература». С 1996 по 1999 год была аспирантом кафедры истории и критики литературы. С 2009 года работала доцентом кафедры довузовской подготовки факультета довузовского образования. С 2009 по 2013 годы исполняла обязанности заместителя заведующего кафедрой довузовской подготовки по научной работе и международным связям. С сентября 2013 года по февраль 2014 года была заведующей кафедрой довузовской подготовки. Автор более 30 научно-методических статей и методических пособий. |

Naukhan Altayevich Asanov -Doctor of Pedagogical Sciences, Professor. In 1972, after graduating from the Chemical Faculty of KazSU, he worked at the Institute of Chemical Sciences of the Academy of Sciences of the Kazakh SSR. Based on the results of the research work carried out at the Research Institute, he defended his dissertation and received the degree of Candidate of Chemical Sciences.In 2005, he defended his doctoral dissertation on the topic "pedagogical foundations of educational process management in the university education system" for the degree of Doctor of Pedagogical Sciences.Since February 17, 2014, he has been appointed head of the Department of Pre-university Training of the Faculty of Pre-University Education.Asanov N.A. is the author of more than 170 scientific and methodological works, has received 4 author's certificates as part of the association of authors on the disclosure of methods for obtaining ion-exchange polymers. |

Myrzabekov Moldakhmet Seidakhmetovich - Candidate of Historical Sciences, associate Professor. In 1995, he was accepted to graduate school at the Department of International Relations and Foreign Policy of the Republic of Kazakhstan of Al-Farabi Kazakh National University. In 1999, he successfully defended his PhD thesis on the topic "political and economic cooperation between Kazakhstan and Germany in the 90s of the twentieth century". In 2000-2003, he was a member of the Dissertation Council at the Al-Farabi Kazakh National University.From 2016 to 2022 he worked as the head of the Department of pre-university training. Myrzabekov M. S. has published about 40 scientific articles. |

Sartaev Spatai Altynbekovich - Candidate of Law, Associate Professor. In 1996, he entered and in 2000 graduated from the Faculty of Law of the Al-Farabi Kazakh State National University with a degree in Jurisprudence, qualification "Lawyer". 2002-2004 studied and graduated with honors from the International Kazakh-Turkish University. Yassawi holds a Master's degree in law. 2004-2007 postgraduate course of the International Kazakh-Turkish University named after Yassawi. |
The main focus of the department was the preparation for comprehensive testing of representatives of the Kazakh diaspora from abroad. To this end, at the beginning they studied 3 main subjects (Kazakh language, history of Kazakhstan, mathematics) and a fourth elective, as well as an intensive Russian language course.
The main scientific results were carried out in accordance with the thematic research plan of the faculty.
In the 2009 academic year, the Department implemented the resolutions of the Academic Council of the Al-Farabi Kazakh National University, the Law of the Republic of Kazakhstan "On Education", the Resolutions of the Government of the Republic of Kazakhstan and the Ministry of Education and Science of the Republic of Kazakhstan, the provisions of the new University development strategy, the faculty development strategy, work plans and programs.
• The staff of the department has implemented research works, as well as the following tasks included in the strategic plan of the university, faculty:
• Teachers of the department took part in the introduction of modern information technologies into the educational process in accordance with the new system of the intra-university system; updated the methodological apparatus of teaching students, focused on the development of innovative learning technologies;
• computer technologies have been introduced (projectors, slides, presentations have been used in lectures and practical classes;
• in order to improve the quality of teaching in the educational process and deepen the knowledge of students, much attention was paid to world scientific achievements, which were used in work programs for special, selected courses.
Since 2011, the Department has been fulfilling the State order for the program of humanitarian assistance provided to the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan in the field of education in accordance with the inter-administrative agreement of November 13, 2009.
Currently, the main focus of the department is to prepare for comprehensive testing of students of Kazakh nationality who are not citizens of the Republic of Kazakhstan, foreign citizens and citizens of the Republic of Kazakhstan. To this end, they study intensive courses in 3 main subjects (reading literacy, History of Kazakhstan, mathematical literacy) and specialized subjects (mathematics, chemistry, physics, geography, biology, computer science, world history, English, law, Kazakh language, Kazakh literature).
Foreign citizens from the IRA are trained in the specialties of pedagogy, engineering, technology, Agriculture, state security. The history of Kazakhstan, mathematics, physics, biology are conducted in the Kazakh language.
The university traditionally hosts the international scientific conference "Farabi Alemi" for students and young scientists. Under the guidance of highly qualified teaching staff, foreign gifted students can participate in research work in Kazakh, Russian and English on topical issues of modern science.
