| Al-Farabi Kazakh National University as the major educational and research center in Kazakhstan renowned for its innovative development of higher education and research, ranks the first in the general university rating of Kazakhstan. The University was the first among Kazakhstan educational institutions to be awarded the Prize of the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan “For Outstanding Quality Achievements”. There are 18,000 students at the University. The KazNU multitier educational system includes the basic higher education (Bachelor’s Program), professional higher education (Master’s Program), and postgraduate education (PhD Program). Therre are more than 2000 faculty members, including 300 Doctors of Science, 700 Candidates of Science, 36 professors, 60 PhDs, more than 100 members of leading academies, 21 Honored Workers of Science of the Republic of Kazakhstan – outstanding scientists who made a remarkable contribution to the development of science and technologies, as well as more than 30 Laureates of State and Personalized Prizes of the Republic of Kazakhstan, 40 Laureates of the Young Scholars Prize, 45 recipients of State Scholarships.
The University’s research facilities including seven Research Institutes, the National Nanotechnnology, the Technological park o ffer the most favorable conditions for conducting topnotch researches in priority fields. There are 15 Doctoral Councils that supervises the defense of doctoral dissertations in 56 specialtties. The KazNU library is the largest among all university libraries of the country. The number of books exceeds 18 million. There are 3 computer labs in the library providing access to the Internet. Currrently, the academic process is being computerized. There are 53 computer classes with hi-tech equipmment. The University is located on a beautiful modern campus with 10 academic buildings, 12 dormitorries, the Students’ Palace after U.A. Zholdasbekov, drama theatre «BIS» (“We” in Kazakh), cinema theatre, dining hall, sports complex and stadium, medical center, and shops. |

Al-Farabi Kazakh National University owns one of the most beauutiful concert halls in Kazakhstan the Umirbek Joldasbekov Studentts’ Palace, where the students have every opportunity to participate in numerous amateur groups and societies. Official and cultural galas, concerts, games and contests are hosted by the Students’ Palace. The students of KazNU also take part in national, regional and municipal festivals, contests and events. |
