HISTORY OF THE HIGHER SCHOOL OF ECONOMICS AND BUSINESS

 

1949 – The Faculty of Economics was established at KazSU named after M.Sc. Kirov. Zherebyatiev Fyodor Alekseevich, Candidate of Economic Sciences, Professor, Honored Worker of Science of Kazakhstan was appointed as a Dean of the Faculty, who worked until 1963.

 

From 1951 to 1954 – The faculty was merged with the Faculty of Philosophy.

 

From 1954 to 1963 – The training of economists was conducted at the Faculty of Economics, whichwas transformed into the Alma-Ata Institute of National Economy in 1963 (now the University of NarHoz).

 

1965 – The work of the faculty was resumed as a department of political economy at the Faculty of History.

 

1968 – Faculty of Philosophy and Economics Once was reorganized, where the Economic Department was represented by the Department of Political Economy.

 

1972 – The department of political economy was divided into the departments of a political economy of humanitarian and natural faculties, headed by doctors of economic sciences, professors Y.A. Aubakirov and V.N. Purits.

 

1974, April – The department of "Branch Economy" was created along with the Department of Political Economy.

 

From 1981 to 1982 academic year – There was an extramural on the speciality "Political Economy" with an annual reception of 25 people.

 

1988 – The speciality "Applied sociology" was introduced at the faculty.

 

1990 – The speciality "International Economic Relations" was introduced at the faculty.

 

1991 – Since gaining independence, the Republic of Kazakhstan required new specialities. Therefore, Faculty of Philosophy and Economics was divided into two departments: economics and sociology, philosophy and political science. The faculty was headed by Doctor of Economics, Professor Zhatkanbaev E.B.

 

1992 – The speciality "Organization and management of business" was introduced at the faculty.

 

1993-1994 academic years The Dissertation Council for candidate theses was opened on three specialities: "Political Economy", "Economics and Management of the National Economy" and "Economic and Mathematical Methods." The chairperson of the council was Doctor of Economics, Professor Narybaev K.N.


1997, February – The council was reorganized into a doctoral council in the same directions; d.e.s., professor Zhatkanbaev EB. was appointed as a chairperson of the council.


1997 – The faculty underwent another reorganization. Institute of Economics and Law (IEP) was organized on the basis of two faculties - economics and law. Zhatkanbaev E.B. was appointed as a Director of the Institute, combining with the position of vice-rector of KazSU for International Relations.


1999Doctor of Law, Professor Bekturganov Abdimanap Elikbaevich was appointed as a Director of the Institute of Economics and Law. From 1997 to 2001 he worked as a Deputy Director, then Director of the Institute of Economics and Law, Head of the Department of Civil and Entrepreneurial Law at al-Farabi KazSU.


1999-2000 – Doctor of law, professor Dzhakishev Erkin Gazizovich was the Director of the Institute of Economics and Law at al-Farabi KazSU.


2001 – The Dissertation Council was headed by academician of NAS RK, Doctor of Economics, Professor Aubakirov Y.A.


2001By decision of the Academic Council of KazNU named after al-Farabi, IEP was divided into two faculties: law and economics and business. Member of the Doctoral Dissertation Council, Doctor of Economics, Professor Elemesov Raushanbek Eleemsovich was appointed as a Dean of the Faculty of Economics and Business. He also participated in the development of state standards for many specialities. In 2006, Eleemsov R.E. was awarded the title of "Honored Worker of the Republic of Kazakhstan".


From September 2005 to May 2008The Faculty of Economics and Business was headed by Doctor of Economic Sciences, Professor Zhatkanbaev Erzhan Baiguzhaevich. Since July 1984б Zhatkanbaev E.B. worked as a senior lecturer, associate professor, acting Head of the Department of Political Economy of Natural Sciences, Dean of the Faculty of Economics and Sociology, Director of the Institute of Economics and Law, Vice-rector of KazSU. From October 1, 2001, to September 1, 2005, he was dean of the Faculty of International Relations.


2008Doctor of Economics, Professor Mukhamediev Bulat Mintaevich was appointed as a Dean of the Faculty of Economics and Business. In 1995, he headed the newly created department of macroeconomics and mathematical methods. Today, Mukhamediev B.M. is a corresponding member of the National Engineering Academy of the Republic of Kazakhstan.  He became the owner of the state scientific scholarship for scientists and specialists who made an outstanding contribution to the development of science and technology in 2008. In 2005, Mukhamediev B.M. was awarded the Medal of the Ministry of Education and Science of the Republic of Kazakhstan "For merits in the development of the science of the Republic of Kazakhstan". The holder of the grant of the Ministry of Education and Science of the Republic of Kazakhstan "The best teacher of the university" 2005 and 2006. 


From 2009 to 2017 – Candidate of Economic Sciences, Associate Professor Yermekbaeva Bayan Zhundibayevna was a Dean of the faculty.  For contribution to education and training, she was awarded a diploma of the Ministry of Education of the Republic of Kazakhstan. For merits in the field of education of the Republic of Kazakhstan, she was awarded a badge "Honored Worker of Education of the Republic of Kazakhstan" in 2008. In 2009, for significant progress in education and upbringing of the younger generation, she was awarded a badge "Y. Altynsarin " by the Decree of the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan of 10.11.2011. She also was awarded the jubilee medal "20 years of Kazakhstan's Independence" by the Decree of the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan from December 5, 2011. Yermekbayeva B.Zh. was awarded the honorary title of "Honored Worker of the RK" and was a holder of the state grant "The best teacher of the university" in 2011. 


2010 – The Faculty of Economics and Business was renamed as the Higher School of Economics and Business.

 

2011 – Four departments were formed: "Marketing and Management", "Accounting and Audit", "Finance", "Economics".

 

2011 – The Center for Economic Research was established by the Decision of the Academic Council of the al-Farabi KazNU from January 17, 2011 in accordance with the strategy of university transformation into Research University

 

From September 2017 to the present – Doctor of Economic Sciences, Acting Professor Sagiyeva Rimma Kalymbekovna is appointed as a Dean of the Higher School of Economics and Business. In 2010, Sagieva R.K. was awarded the Medal of the Ministry of Education and Science of the Republic of Kazakhstan "For Merits in the Development of Science of the Republic of Kazakhstan". She is the owner of the state grant "The Best Teacher of the University" in 2016.
