Then the department was headed by the doctor of physical and mathematical sciences, professor M.M. Telemtaev.

In 1989, a new department "Computer and Cybernetics" was opened with specializations "Mathematical support of a computer" and "Mathematical Cybernetics". The head of the department was Doctor of Physical and Mathematical Sciences, associate professor T.N..Biyarov.

In 1997, as a result of the integration of the departments "Mathematical Computer Support" and "Mathematical Cybernetics", the Department "Computer and Mathematical Support, Mathematical Cybernetics" was formed.
The doctor of physical and mathematical sciences, associate professor TN Biyarov was elected the head of the department on a competitive basis.
Also in these years, according to the requirements of the time, the specialty "Information systems in business" was opened.

In November 2001, "Computer and Mathematical Support of Mathematical Cybernetics" was divided into two departments "Mathematical Cybernetics and Information Systems" and "Informatics".
