Innovation activity

Al-Farabi KazNU is an intellectual corporation with research and innovation infrastructure, having no analogues in other universities of the country. The technological corridor “from generation of idea to its commercialization”, intended for conversion of R&D results into the real sector of economy, functions effectively at the University.

The research, educational and innovation cluster (REIC) is created on the basis of KazNU as an effective environment for generation of innovation, integration of science, education and innovation production, and commercialization of R&D and the advanced knowledge, thereby Al-Farabi Kazakh National University should become a core of the innovation system of the city, region and country, engaged in the creation of small high-tech companies and generating innovation solutions to preserve competitiveness of the country under the conditions of the global knowledge economy.

With the support of the Ministry of Education and Science of the Republic of Kazakhstan, The University continues the implementation of the project on creation of the Innovation Cluster within the framework of the Public-Private Partnership Program aimed at increasing the competitiveness of domestic products in the domestic and foreign markets, as well as introducing advanced forms of effective production management. In order to implement the institutional reforms, the works on formation of a medical and biological cluster are carried out on the basis of Al-Farabi KazNU, the implementation of cluster is based on the theory of the triple helix – cooperation between the state, universities and business.

The University has developed the program "Creation of an innovative platform for the preparation of competitive specialists, development and implementation of high-tech products", within the framework of it, at the initiative of the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan N. Nazarbayev, to further development of scientific and technical cooperation between the Republic of Kazakhstan and the People's Republic of China, the creation of the international IT-technopark "Alliance of Universities of the New Silk Road" on the model of "Silicon Valley" is planned, which will serve the effective use of the scientific and innovation potential of the University through the implementation of innovation projects commissioned by large companies-subsoil users, the introduction of the most promising developments of scientists in production and the formation of an appropriate platform for the preparation of competitive specialists.
